NOTR problem :( real bad

well.........
I installed Gothic 2,applied the 1.30 patch,installed NOTR,applied the 2.5a patch than 2.6,installed english translation mod 1.0b2 than 1.0b5.
I run the game and the window with the video configuration thing appears,it keeps going for about 3-5 minutes than an error appears : "Vdfs32g.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" so it closes than after 2 minutes when the game is suposed to start i guess another BIG error appears that says
"Gothic2 -2.6 has caused an access violation at adress 040020ACh by attempting to "write" to adress 2E797265h."

Hello there !

I can tell you that i've got a Radeon 9100 and that Gothic is only working with ATI drivers not newer than 3.9. So perhaps you should try to install Catalyst 3.9 drivers and see if the problem is gone.

over and out

Hi ,well that didn't work either.I reinstalled windows with directX 8.1 (i've read that G2 may have problems with DX 9) installed 3.9 catalyst but the game has the same problem.
Before reinstaling XP i put the patch for the Video check error wich i found on JoWood forums and the game WORKED at least untill after the intro movie where i was talking with Xardas.Than my comp rebooted and it didn't work again, same video thing error folowed by that big window error

any other sugestions anyone?

Did you really install all the patches listed above? Half of it is unnecessary.

I have a newer version of the VDFS tool. Maybe it fixes the problem. I can mail it to you.

If you want you can also try to check your ram with this nice little proggy

http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html

You can also try to reinstall only G2 and see if it's working an then you can install NOTR and only then the language mod.

mem test didin't detect anything (too bad i wanted to change my old ram with some OCZ )

but I have the same old problem.i changed the timing but that idiotic error apears shortly after or during the intro.it says acces violation when attempted READING form adress blablabla
(something like that)
the exact same thing apeared earlyer befor the game starting only it said when atempted WRITING to adress blablabla

i assume it's talking about writing and reading from my RAM

i have only 1 RAM 256 mb[/quote]

Does your mobo have a nforce chipset ? When yes then try to following
You must reboot your machine. At startup you must hit Del on your keyboard. Then you see your Bios. The you see something like that i think:

http://www.sweclockers.com/html/recension/epox_3spa3/big/bios.jpg

Now you have to go to Advanced Chipset features then you go to Ram and you should see something like that

http://www.benchmark.pl/artykuly/recenzje/przeglad_plyt_nForce2/epox/bios-3.gif

Here you can change your ram setting to a more conservative mode.

Do you have 1 or 2 Rams in your comp ?

And now ? Is memtest still complaining ?

And memtest ? What does memtest say ? When memtest don't give you errors anymore but G2 still does then you have to reinstall it because there has certainly been a corumption when you installed it last time. You can still try to lower your memory setting to for example to 133 Mhz or whatever and cas latency to 2.5.
Or perhaps you can try to put the Ram stick into another ram slot - you never know.

If that doesn't help then your ram is ready to be thrown out, sorry.

Install only G2 and test it. Then install the add-on. Install only the necessary patches, not more like above.

The the VDFS file help?

What are your virtual memory settings in Windows?
