Arcanum?

A few ideas

What about Arcanum, yes it's a tolken rip, (sort of.) But, it was set durring a traditional D&D setting going through an industrial revolution sortof the US circa 1890. It was in my opinion an original setting in that regard.

As for modern day there's always the the World of Darkness franchise, but as far as I can remember it's never gotten a really good computer treatment. Though Vampire:bloodlines is looking awfly good.

There was also Freedom Force, It was an RPG of sorts and featured another not quite modern day, and fairly campy, setting.

Are Vampire: Bloodline out? I liked Redemption, and I'm looking forward for anything connected with it! Also Redemption is an Example of Modern-day RPG. However the Ancient part of the game is MUCH Better!

I'd try Lionheart ... It is not a Tolkien-based-RPG ...
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. -Obvilion Lost is NOT an RPG!

Geneforge has a rather unique setting. A strange mix of sci-fi and fantasy.

Well, If we are talking Geneforge, I'd suggest Avernum 1/2/3 becausethey have a somewhat nice story, which is not a Tolkien rip-off, and does provide some good gameplay ...
Lionheart is a nice game, we have a combination of Arcanum/Lionheart, and I'd just love to see a new game in that universe ...
Arcanum is having one of the greatest settings in an rpg ... yet ...
if we are talking bout future projects, I'd try Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and I heard that bulgarian developer Heamimont, the makers of Tzar, and Celtic Kings, is do an RPG, and having in mind their projects so far, they are bond to make something both good and original

I'd liek to see something liek anarchy online, that wasn't online and had more of a story and such ... with all the cool character classes of ao and a nifty sci fi setting, the freedom of morrowind, and fighting animations like soul caliber (not necessarily you twictch controlling all elements, but just the utter coolness of the animation) .....

but fantasy is cool too ...

i don't care so long as the game is fun, involving, with alot of choice for character type and involved skill based character building system ....
