Just wondering what setting you guys would like to see for a new RPG ??
It seems that the Medieval and Magical setting lends itself readily to the genre due to AD&D.
IF a new setting could be defined what would we want ?
Maybe a Baldurs Gate In Space type where you could zoom around the cosmos and then find planets and 3D isometrically explore.
Don't know myself.
Fallout was a nice departure from the norm as was Planescape. Deus ex to some extent.
Are we always going to be mages/clerics etc:?
It needs someone with a greater imagination than I to define.
What do you think ?
Answers on a postcard.............

I think the Star Wars universe lends itself perfectly to RPGs, as so much background and mythology already exists. However, it's yet to be done (properly).
Here's hoping for Knights of the Old Republic... should it ever emerge. |

maybe this is a new setting:
a team of special agents investigates a major crime in the year 2002.
locations: new york / berlin / paris / london /peking / moskau ...
-> no sorcery
-> no science fiction / no medievil
most games in these settings are programmed as adventure games or shooter. i want a 1st person crpg.

Just to continue..
A Space type RPG, whereby you start in a shanty type town on planet X.
You can purchase/lease a ship and then recruit a Navigator, Gunner, Medic, Scientist etc;
These guys will have stats that dictate how good they are and they would level up and improve as you perform certain missions.

BioWare, the genius behind the Baldurs Gate series, is now working with George Lucas on a Star Wars RPG called Knights of the Old Republic. It's scheduled for release later this year, but there isn't much detail about it on the web yet. They seem to be keeping mum about it. Even BioWare's forum is strangely silent on the details.
Still, I'd suggest keeping an eye out for this one (called KOTOR for short). It sounds like exactly what you're looking for.
