Better Armour

I have the guard armour and leather armour. I'm still in chapter one, level 9. Is there some way to get better armour? I get killed way too easy with the harder enemies, like 1-2 whacks from them and I'm down.

No, the next best armor as militia you will get in chapter 2 from Engrom. (2500 gold)

the light armour can keep you alive long enough, even with orcs. you gotta open with a fireball or 2, then go in for the kill. With the 35 damage sword you get from the militia it might be a tad hard, but theres a 45 damage rough bastard sword on the coast line by the harbour, being guarded by two lizards, theres another beach with two lizards just before the right one. just kill one and grab the sword, or just run and grab the sword, but you might get followed in the water.
