I thank the gods that I didn't waste $49.99 on the full version.
They have a lot of nerve labeling this game as a CRPG! But then again
Diablo was labeled a CRPG also wasn't it?
What an overhyped POS! |

Well, I'm downloading the demo right now. So I can't speak as to whether it's CRPG yet. But I will after I play it. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

It is RPG. No doubt about it.
I do not know if it is CRPG or if CRPG is something else than RPG.
I understand when someone doesnt like this game, but I do not understand why make such result from your dislike. |

Make no mistake, it does have some RPG elements. You increase your statistics, you find better items and you do quest for people. But there is almost no exploration at all. The game is set on a linear path. There is only
one town in the entire game. There is very little interaction with other people
and 95% of the game is point & click to kill a monster.
Hmmm... Let me think, I think I've already played this somewhere before.
Oh yeah...that's right.. it was called Diablo!
Of course this game is going to get ripped on. After all the hype this game is the biggest let down since Pool of Radiance 2. I can't understand why it took them so long to make this game. Except for the graphics engine there is absolutely nothing inovative about this game. |

Yes, Dibalo I, Diablo 2 + LoD...great games and RPGs - at least for me.
But it is not important. I think it is good thing that they released demo but let me say that they (producers) everywhere said that it will be exactly what it is. So demo uncovered nothing new for someone who read single note about this game somewhere.
What is POS? |

It would be different if they called it an action/adventure. I would have more respect for the game if that were the case. The reason I'm being so hard on it is because there is very little role playing involved in Dungeon Siege. It's all hack and slash. |

Well, I played it for a bit, concentrating on Combat Magic, until I got a Bluescreen upon leveling that skill up. Then I went to bed. _________________ Make good choices. |

Probably they call it RPG because it is RPG and do not call it action-adventure because it is not action-adventure.
It is roleplaying you play role of real action-hero.
Well, they maybe call it RPG, but they speak about it clearly like about hack and slash.
RPGDot has everyday at least 5 news about DS (and it is RPGDot. So maybe I am not only one who thinks it is RPG. |

Against my better judgement, I played the demo.
You know what? It wasn't that bad. I like the party aspect. I can live with minimal text and a lot of slashing.. .after all, I played the original Pool of Radiance series, right? I thought I was 'Diablo'd' out... but this game isn't diablo (although, in certain ways, it's uglier).
I definately would NOT play it through with one character and a loyal band of packmules. I would want the full party deal. And if the characters didn't come with enough personality, then I'd make some up.
It was the pause function that made the demo for me. Time to re-issue orders and such. COming from Freedom Force, I was used to this and began to see Dungeon Siege not as a RPG that doesn't have enough interaction... but as a linear staggered time strategy game with roleplaying elements, like Freedom Force.
Once I removed the onus of 'wow me with a deep story, Diablo clone!' from the game, I began to enjoy it for what it was.
And the music is excellent. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

You realize...the demo is 10% of the game...all the BEGINNING. *sigh* some people...

90% of the RPG's on the market are linear, you have to have linarity to drive a story. There are optional parts of the game, and lots of exploring to do once you get past the first town.

There is more than one town. You interact with people, but again, you have the DEMO so you would never be able to judge correctly without the full version. Again, 90+% of all RPG's revolve around combat. What are ya smokin bud!?

This game is far more similar to Icewind Dale than it is to Diablo.

The game hasn't been "ripped on", it's been getting constant 90+ score reviews. But you've only played the demo, showing the first 10% of the game, yet you've seemed to figure out everything from that little tidbit of gaming. Amazing |

Llama, the only thing that is amazing here is your ignorance. I could go on and on and counter everything you just said but your message speaks for itself.

"far more similar to Icewind Dale than Diablo" !?!?!?!?!?!?
I question whether you've played any of those games. |
