Fable - greatest RPG ever made? |
|
This game looks like it's going to revolutionise the gaming industry (that's what its producer claim).
Although currently only for XBOX, hope there's also a PC port!
The screens look abasolutely amazing tho - can't say anything about gameplay but producers claim:
-it has over 200hours worth of play.
-First RPG where character ages over time
-how you appear depends on how NPC's react to you
-first RPG to fully implement emotions
-most interactive world. eg cut grass and grass grows back
-most advanced 3D engine ever created
It's been in production since 2001 and will be released late 2004

Well, I gotta agree, the game has the looks and some nifty traits.
However, ageing? I wonder if that's one of those things that makes the game more real, but is also completely unnecessary, and takes away from the fun. You know, like eating/starvation.
And, for beeing a game that tries SO HARD of giving you freedom, you can ONLY be a male. _________________ Like some bold seer in a trance;

The included only male player b/c of the complexity of programing emotions and NPC reactions to another female player also.
It's explained in one of those links. |

I'm not very optimistic,
in one of the interviews, one of the developers (or something) said that you would be instantly "teleported" when you recieve a quest and for me, that ruins everything.
Also, they said that the game would only be about 20 hours long. |

They say 20 hours if you strictly follow the storyline quests. However, that's not how the game's supposed to be played.
Personally, I hate games where you are given complete free for all (eg, Pirates of Caribbean). |

I don’t know,
First RPG where character ages over time
Does that mean I have time limit to finish this game, what if I want to play 80 years of game play, do I need replace sword with the cane?
How you appear depends on how NPC's react to you
Do I have to shave, take a shower, and wash my cloths. I don’t want to be another Sims, it still amaze the popularity of that game, how came would you want to play a video game that resembles you day to day life, but this is a discussion for another topic.
First RPG to fully implement emotions
This I’ve got to see, just somebody with PMS.
And the rest is a progress of programming. _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness.

HAHAHA!!!!! I never thought of it in that way
Nevertheless, in theory, provided they do it well, this game should rock with those features.
As to the time limit I'm sure there'd be some catch where u're immortal or gain experience with age etc. |

I'm really looking forward to everyone's whining once the game is released because it's nothing like they expected.
Didnt games like B&W and Dungeon Siege teach you anything at all ? |

A game that is not released can never be the "greatest RPG ever made". A lot of games look promising when not nearing completion. Then when the releasedate is nearing, features drop like flies due to time constraints or are badly implemented, or they get everything right as they planned it.
We can only tell when we can play it. _________________ Kewl quotes:

What else you can expect from developer when they say "our game are the greatest game ever made..."
Thing can get worse if someone pick up the lines and tell his/her friends that "Hey, this is the greatest RPG ever!," even when the game still in production
It kind of getting my nerve when few developers have tendency to keep bragging (overdoing) on how great their game will be... |

You're right. People always expect so much things; and too much expectations normally bring much frustration when the game released. So, just be patient and curious, but do not wait for revolutions. |

If the main plot to finish just takes 20 hours, then extensive exploring will total the usual 50 hours, if your lucky. |
