What is the hardest faction to begin with? |
|
Im playing the german version with english subtitles and I chose the militia because I though it was the easiest one to begin with...Does anyone here decided to be a mage? is it hard to start with a mage? What is the most powerfull character at the end of the game? |

The Paladin class is the most powerful in the end - some Paladin runes are... ahem... quite useful. For me, the mage was the most difficult character class to start with. _________________ Jaz |

Hardest: Dragonhunters/Mercs
The easiest in the end is the mage. Kills anything at sight. |

You will have the hardest time with the Dragonhunters.
The balancing in the game is kinda shitty, once I wrote a whole thread about that problem.
The problem with the mercenaries is their lack of magic powers. Even the strongest bow can't match a level 3 Spell.
The Paladins suck hard, because the game is far too easy with 'em. Their magic is very unbalanced, they can do almost as much damage as every mage. At least as long as you're fighting against single opponents.
The Mages are also very easy to play - but you must use your runestones wisely. If you learn too many spells of the lower levels, you'll have a very hard time. But if you use the stones for the later spells, well....let's say you don't have to worry about any enemy anymore
Ah, one last notice : The mages are not only very powerful in casting spells, they can also have the highest defence rating thanks to a special amulet.
I hate this balancing..... _________________ Vielgehörnter Eumel, Herr des Dummrumsitzens |

personally i don't think a little bit of unbalanced gameplay is a bad thing, can really make it more interesting, especially when replaying the game _________________ =High Shadow of the RPGDot Shadows=

Well they ARE good, but only in swordmanship...They cant use spells...I think a dragonhunter is a lot better with swords than a paladin...am I right?
Anyway Im gonna chose the merc because I like challenges |

Hm... better with swords than Paladins? Probably, but in the end it was only marginal. My Merc had maxed out one- and two-handed weapons while my Paladin had 100% in one-handed and about 70% in two-handed... which was enough, together with his proficiency with ranged weapons and those naughty instakill combat spells. Overall it meant that there was no enemy he had difficulties fighting. A brawler? A shooter? No problem (and I never even bothered to get the heavy armor as a Paladin). The Paladin is not only the most versatile class but also the heftiest.
P.S. My Paladin managed to kill all Dragons with either the crossbow or the cheapest combat spell. They weren't much of a challenge for him... the Merc definitely had the more difficult time. _________________ Jaz |

Well, single enemies like dragons are no problem, even in close combat.
If you do it right, you can kill the dragon without losing one hitpoint. Just keep close to 'em and cover them with attacks. They're too dumb to get you. _________________ Vielgehörnter Eumel, Herr des Dummrumsitzens |
