i cant use my bow, i equip it along with a sword, the sword equips to 1 and the bow to 2, but when i press 2 my map comes up. i've tried equipping just my bow but it keeps equipping to 2. i have bow skill, and i have used a bow before earlier in the game, yet now for some reason i cant use it. i've tried dropping all my maps and it still doesnt work.
please help.

Welcome to the forums.
The only reasons I can think of why you can't use your bow are:
-Not enough dexterity
-Your simply out of arrows, then you can use your bow either.  |

Ahh, but EDV,
Notice how shadow_clown87 said the bow had been used earlier, this problem is due to the keyboard settings, - - try adjusting the settings to how they were "earlier" - - there is a full description of the key bindings, left and right handed settings etc' in the Gothic/htm document on your hard drive.  |

EDV i have tried to use every bow i can buy, from ones that need only 10 dex to ones that need 90 dex and i cant use any of them, my dex at the moment is at about 60 i think, and also i have just over 1000 arrows.
Wulf i have not changed the control settings through the whole game, they are still at default and yet it still doesnt work.

You say pressing 2 brings up the map? what happens when pressing M (which is for map) ?
If the problem persists, i can only suggest re-intalling Gothic, don't be alarmed at this, when you get the install menu, select "repair" - - this will correct any faulty files while still keeping your saved games intact. |

pressing M did nothing.
thankyou for your help wulf, i tried the repair but it did not work, so i copied the save files into another folder and completely reinstalled gothic then put the save files back in. my game works properly now, i can use the bow.

i had to uninstall/reinstall too.. repair didnt help
sometimes gothic2 just screws up.. for me it was
the game could not start.. (maybe because i was
often switching alt-tab to windows to save the pictures..
don't know) |

If u press 2 and a map comes ut u must have your 2 key set to map. Go to keyboard settings, clear your map keys and reset it to some unused key. Then it should work!
