funniest movie I saw in a while, had no plot at all and I've seen better acting at porn movies  , I laughed so hard at lines like "I'm not suppose to die".
anyway it's not worth it in the movie but if bad movies make you laugh it's definitly one that's worth a look, the plot is part doom 3 part something the write hazed up, it's filled with funny sentences and has bad effects most of time, the biggest gun you see in there looks like someone threw a radioactive frog on a wall, lol
in short doom is a movie that doesn't take itself seriously, suited for those days when you are drunk with friends and have nothing to do

Heh. I was thinking "Hm, a Doom movie? Maybe I'll go actually..." - despite the fact that I'm not a fan of a certain, uh, "actor". But then I saw the trailer and realized how silly this movie must be.  And a good thing it was, 'cause I spent that money on a cool t-shirt. 
Tell me, were there at least some decent monsters in that movie?

well there were doom 3 monsters without thier power to throw fire balls, and zombies but that's pretty much it.

Yessssss. Sounds exactly like my kind of movie. And a movie with the Rock in it must be just plain silly; he's wonderful, isn't he?
What? Hey, Doom was an extremely silly series of games, the books were even funnier... on purpose... just too bad that Doom 3 didn't feel like Doom at all (way too dark... a decent game in itself IMO, just not Doom with its green slime and blue carpets and all the other pretty colors). So I guess I'll get my dose of silliness at a local theater.

yes there's books, they are silly ,and stupid but I still read them because they had these cool pictures on them , nahh they were funny books about marines and aliens that look like demons

1) No idea, but I'm grateful.
2) The four Doom novels by ab Hugh and Linaweaver from 1995. I think the first one is still available but the others at least are out of print and difficult to find. I'm glad I bought mine right when they came out, they were a wonderful read - while the first one is quite close to Doom 1, the other three are pretty funny stuff (especially the intergalactic war of the literature reviewers). And you learned interesting things about Mormons and Jehova's Witnesses (Sandy Petersen, the guy behind the Doom story and most of the Call of Cthulhu pen & paper stuff, is a Mormon).

You should have asked the vintage shooter specialist (--> me). Sandy Petersen designed more than half of the Doom 1 levels if I'm not mistaken, and thus was responsible for the weird setting... even though he joined id Soft just two months (or so) before the game's release.
He actually might make a great merman... give the man a fish tail and some hair...
Hmmm, I remember recommending the Doom novels to Val waaaay back. Waaaaaaaaaay back, even.

He may be a big guy with a beard, but his hair is not green and I don't see a trident or fishtail.
I still haven't gotten around to reading those books. I'll probably have to order them off Amazon.

Wow, I used to play the Cthulhu p&p and I had no idea Sandy Petersen had done any PC/videogame work. I must check out that Samurai game. Thanks for the link, Val. |

Oh yeeeah, I remember the Doom book. I'm pretty sure I even read it a loooong time ago. Strange choice for a book adaptation, but I remember thinking it sorta worked. Then again, I was 11 or 12 at the time, so my taste was something less than sophisticated ...
