Oliver Stone's - Alexander the Great

Oliver Stone is directing a movie about Alexander the Great. Just image Conan:The Barbarian(Oliver directed this) done in the Roman/Greek era...and you can easily image how awesome this historical piece will be. What have you heard about this movie? I am interested in who will do the score!!!

I used to really like Stone (and still do like a lot of his older movies), but I think he's been a bit whack since (and including) Natural Born Killers. I hope this is good, but I don't really know anything about it.

I never knew Stone directed Conan the B That's great.

The Alexander has not lived in the Greek/Rome era. Only in the Ancient Greece era .He lived 356-323 BC.

Some bio:
http://www.fsmitha.com/h1/ch11.htm

But a more recently movie is about the Troy war which is in "mythic" Greece era.

I'll go see it. I love period pieces and sword fighting. If a movie has sword fighting, it's on my must see list.

@Val, I'd recommend the new Takeshi Kitano film, I think it's called "Zatoichi" and I think it's about a blind swordsman (yup, just like Blind Fury - good old Rutger - but probably miles better). It's definitely got a big pile of swordfights in it, and lots of claret, no doubt.

I haven't seen it yet, but it's been described as "not his best film, but his most enjoyable." That description appeals to me, I've seen a bunch of his others, and although I really like most of them they can be a bit heavy-going, so this sounds like a nice change.

You haven't seen it already have you?

Conan was directed by John Milius, not by Oliver Stone.

I'm interested in seeing it, but I don't expect a historical correct setting. For example: Gladiator. The movie was really good, butthe facts got totally messed up. There was once an emperor called Marcus Aurelius, but he didn't conquer anything. He lived at about 100 after c.. I think there was indeed some stuff also true about the movie, but I don't go see it because of the historical correctness.

Concusion: just wanted to point out that what you see in movies is most likely historically incorrect.

your are so true. After all is a little naive to believe that any historical movie is historical correct. The primary target of any movie is to entertain not to educate.

My bad...

Sorry, he wrote it. He did not direct. He had a lot to do with the initial project.

Speaking of Milius...I really hope he still does a King Conan movie. After, all howard's first story was about King Conan. "Phoenix on the Sword"

Anyone have any links about this Alexander the Great movie?

Well, Conan the B sucked, but I'll probably give Alexander the G a chance.

Even better news...

Vangelis is doing the soundtrack to Alexander.

He did Blade Runner and 1492 - Conquest of Paradise.

If you have ever heard 1492 - Conquest of Paradise, then you know he is perfect for this film!!! Blade Runner is my all-time favorite cd and DVD.

Here is a link with a 4 minute sound-clip...

I have seen this and it's awesome. Especially if you appreciate swordfighting.
