I get the impression that should read "Someone has leaked the 1st trailer" rather than "Infogrames has released".
Its a great trailer though.

Yep. The "Legal Goes Here" blank screen at the end of the movie is definitely kind of suspicious . |

I love monster animation! Does that demon remind you of Barlog? Looks so good. NWN ugly 3d didn't even stand close! |

Sadly, I missed it. Gamers Hell have removed it. *sigh*. |

I love the graphics even though its a bit hard to see in detail from the video. I agree with Kream about this looking better than the 3d of NWN except I wouldn't call NWN ugly. I'll have to start watching for this one! I had heard of it of course from reading RPGDot all the time, but I was thinking it was still very early in development. This reminds me of my anticipation for PoR2 . I'm pretty confident Troika can pull off something better than that though. |

By the way the game looks awesome and I just can't wait for this baby to come out - turn-based combat strikes back!!! |

All your comments made me go and download that trailer (thanks for the link, Mindless). Yes, it does look nice.
But . . .
Duh, yet another Dungeons & Dragons game! How about some more "original" RPG's for a change? I just don't like that world and ruleset. _________________ “Through the sounds of falling rain, through the clouds of bitter times

That was some really sweet graphics. The Beholder's really looked as if they were 3d orbs floating above the ground. The Balrog was awesome withe the flames all in motion. The magic missiles were fun to watch with their organic flow to the enemies, taking alternate paths with arcs and curves that are very eye catching.
But it looks like they are going with a more Baldur's Gate style of battle. At the speeds the game was going, it did not look like turn based combat, but real time. I'm also noticing they only showed the battles. I hope this isn't going to turn out to be another Diablo dungeon crawl. Hopefully Troika knows what their fans want is a deep, rich RPG. _________________ Ha, Ha, Ha.... Oh, you were SERIOUS?

I thought the combat looked strangely fast so I read Troika's interviews/previews a little more. I think the answer is quite simple: Troika were sensitive to long (non-PC) turns in TB combat (POR2, anyone?) and looked for techniques to counter this. Apparently in certain circumstances NPCs take simultaneous actions/turns such as moving, to speed things up. Player turns are not affected and enemy actions such as actual attacks aren't simultaneous so the spirit and strategy of TB is maintained. The editing of the trailer probably took advantage of this to make the trailer look "exciting". |
