I agree. I was just playing it last night(with the highly recommended Limb from Limb expansion pack installed), so I should know.

Piranah Bytes isn't stupid enough to spend more than 2 months translating it.
They'll get it out before Christmas.

I´m too busy to write a summary of the 2 page article now. I´ll do it later.
Just a few more teasers from PC Games 5/02:
-magic: ingredients ==> runes (like U
-fights: faster, far better handling for strafing and multiple opponents.
-much faster loading times |

Hi!
Here a little translation about Gothic2 from PCGames: (sorry for mistakes)
- the world is now 3 times bigger 8D
- now you are able to be a soldier, paladin or a mage and nothing else in between this characters. Maybe you are no longer allowed to spell casts as a soldier...
- you are able to make your own weapons as a soldier/paladin or make your own elixiers as a mage
- the quests are now addicted to your character/class and they are not the same for each character/class
- about the story: the sleeper was the favorit demon of a god and this god is now really stinky
- the AI is now improved and even better (is this possible?)
- improved fights

So is that Oktober for Germany? Ach!
Will it be 2003 before the translation comes?
Doubt it,JoWood's more involved and I'm quite sure they'd want the game to be out for the X-mas rush...
Good to hear they've fixed the multiple enemy fights, that was the thing that I liked least about Gothic... |

The textures in Gothic are 256x256 pixels
and they're very poor considering what I've already seen in Unreal II's engine (which goes to 2048x2048 pixel textures) - you would need a 128Mb graphics card to display that however.
If you wanted 1024x1024 pixels you'd need a Geforce 3 - no doubt about it.
1024x1024 textures are seen in Serious Sam II when you use the Extreme graphic quality setting in the Add-in menu. It's very impressive.
The difference in texture density allows for closer inspection of the surfaces of the world or environment that 3D generates.
With 256x256; you get very little in the way of a suggestion toward a sense of looking at a surface material, other than it being a graphic slapped on a polygonal surface.
With 1024x1024, you get bumpmapped features (although it's not DOT3), multi-textured and layered surfaces and no matter how close you are to the surface, the detail is retained - it can be made to look like there is a physical rough or smooth texture to the polygon.
When you have a hardware light on it, the results you get from a DOT3 bumpmap will simply change the way you look at computer games.
PB may put this in, but it'll be exclusive to all but the most power hungry PC owners out there. I don't think even Morrowind makes uses of DOT3 EMBM features.
The FSB [Front Side Bus] is the problem at the moment, but AMD's Solo2 and Clawhammer technology (+ Hyper-Transport) will solve that problem and the A0/A1 Stepping clocked to 1400mhz will remove FSB problems in PCs for good.
It'll be cheap too at 0.13 and later in 2003, 0.09 micron manufacturer.

Guys, about Unreal II. (I know this is a Gothic forum). It won't have a multiplayer-section, so you need to buy Unreal II And Unreal Tournament 2002 (Unreal Tournament II). Stupid d*ckheads are they! |

Latest info, NOT from PC Games:
Gothic 2 is now on the German release list at http://www.jowood.com as a Q4/02 release!
The English list only mentions titles up to Q3.
