I agree. Now, Canadians - that's a different matter.
Honestly, what's all this nationality crap? Let's get back to the games, please. The ESRB looks like it needs to refine it's policies to me but the German ratings board has a heart attack about killing kids and the Australian board has issues with prostitutes and violence...they all do silly things. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

Proof that perhaps the negatives of the 'guest' option outweigh the positives?

Thank you for the guest option. I appreciate it.
It looks like the ESRB let the T rating slip. Thanks to CCGR and other sites as well as Oblivion's popularity more attention was paid to the details in the game and it got the rating it deserved.
As for the hidden nudity skins one wonders if they kept it in as some sort of easter egg or publicity stunt like getting their rating changed. After the GTA fiasco the ESRB would have had to over this simply to be consistent. They really had no choice no matter their quality..
I'm not sure why it fell through the cracks the first time with all the violence, gore and some strange quests. It makes you wonder if they just rubber stamp titles based on the companies request on the bottom line without going over the details. You can almost guarantee they don't play these games all the way through.
Its nice to say the ESRB are willing to correct their mistakes.

You can scratch that 'almost' up there . From the ESRB site on the rating process with highlights on the parts that matter most...
quote:
To get a game certified with an ESRB rating, publishers fill out a detailed questionnaire explaining exactly what's in the game, and submit it to ESRB along with actual videotaped footage of the game, showing the most extreme content and an accurate representation of the context and product as a whole. Working independently, three trained raters then view the game footage and recommend the rating and content descriptors they believe are most appropriate. ESRB then compares the raters' recommendations to make sure that there's consensus. Usually, the raters agree and their recommendation becomes final. However, when the raters recommend different ratings, additional raters may be requested to review the game in order to reach broader consensus. Once consensus on a rating and content descriptors is reached, ESRB issues an official rating certificate to the game's publisher.
When the game is ready for release to the public, publishers send copies of the final product to the ESRB. The game packaging is reviewed to make sure the ratings are displayed in accordance with ESRB standards. Additionally, ESRB's in-house game experts randomly play the final games to verify that all the information provided during the rating process was accurate and complete.

A lot of good, registered posters started off as quests. I'm pretty sure priest4hire did, as well as some other good posters. A lot of people just want to throw a quick comment out there, and don't want to go through 20 steps of registering to do so.
I think getting a priest4hire into a bebate is worth the nonsense posts. _________________ Vegitarian is the Indian word for lousey hunter. |
