| Help! Can't enchant saber with Enchant Item scroll! |

Apparently, I've hit a stumbling block. I've made the super duper mithril sabre with podwer action and have gotten the dragon egg. I give it to the snake woman high priestess and she gives me some load about revealing the location of the rebels and she'll enchant the weapon if I put it on the altar. I put it on the altar, but nothing happens. I click the egg on the saber and it tells me "Ooh, now there's something new", and the sword is described as "ready to enchant." Still, I can't get the snake lady to enchant it.
So then I try using an "Enchant object" scroll on the saber. It won't do anything and it says "I don't think I should do that." Yeah, well I think he should.
This is really frustrating. Any recommendations? |

Snake Lady should do it if you tell her what she wants to know. It may be you are using a scroll that is higher than your level. Could just be a bug, but I have never heard of this one. You playing pc or xbox? If pc have you installed the patch? That may do it. If you have a save game before giving the sword to her, go back and just try it yourself without talking to her. I never used them, just did it all myself. Post if you get it solved or not. This is a new one on me. Wish I could help more, but someone else may be able to help as well.

I remember this as one of the classics, but I don't remember all the reasons. Most likely, you do not yet have the ability to use that scroll. I know everything has to be perfectly correct for the enchantment to work and sometimes the 'not a good idea' message means you've forgotten something important. Sorry I can't be more help, but it's been a VERY long time since I last played the game.

I happen to have a save just before enchanting the meteor sword and after testing it I think I know what your doing. After the dragon egg has been applied to the weapon and it says its ready to enchant I think you are trying to activate the enchant scroll on the weapon rather than casting it. The correct way to do it is drag the scroll to character window, it will make a chime sound. Then close the character window and cast the enchant spell then double click on the meteor sword immediately after. You should now have an enchanted meteor sword. Let me know if that helps. |
