Heal key for G1 like in G2?

I never finished Gothic. I really enjoyed it, but finally gave up in frustration due to the fact of not being able to heal myself while in battle. G2 fit the bill great and I loved it and now am playing NotR. My question is, has anyone ever hacked this game so that the 'H' key (or whatever) will heal you as it does in G2? I'd love to go back and play Gothic when done with NotR, but I can't see me doing it without this. Thanks.

Sorry for the long delay Warmskin,

No, there isn't any method of hotkey potion or editing the .ini files and such in Gothic, not to my knowlege. This has been asked by players in the past (use the search function) - it usually got a reaction of "why a potion in the middle of a battle, it sucks!" - i agree, why plough into a dozen orcs anyway, it isn't that kind of game, it requires subtle moves, stealth, composure. It is possible to get to the end of the game with little or no fighting and using no cheats, but using the in-game items that don't seem to be realised by many players, haste potions, sleep and charm magic, acrobatics, and best of all running - but then that's another story.
Try playing gothic in a more layed-back manner, like a monk for example, you know the old saying - "there's more than one way to skin a cat"

Gothic is not a diablo type of game. It requires lots of strategy. Sometimes it is better to run away then engage in battle. Try to use more sneaking, summoning spells scrolls etc. Try changing tactics when fighting differrent type of oponents. and never go into a battle if you are not fully healed!!!

Yes, well, I'm very aware that Gothic is not a Diablo type game. And I do approach it from the 'thinking man's game' option. Maybe I need to increase my 'real life' dexterity Seriously, I would like to know how many people are playing NotR without using the quick healing potions. I made the mistake of going to Ch.3 *before* going to the 'new' location. Seekers in that game are ***much*** harder. The first one I *had* to kill (no running away option). I must have gone thru 7 or 8 potions before putting him down. I just would like to see the same option available in G1 that is in NotR. I remember that being a problem for me in G1. Maybe G1 is a much easier game than NotR... I'll give it another try after finishing this one. Really enjoying NotR. Thanks to both of you for the replies.

Hero: "Ok wait, can I press H for healing?"
Orc Hunter: "Yea sure, quick however, I want to do another 25 damage"

Go easy on the spam, This is a serious topic

The main problem with quick-key potions in G1 is the priority given to the animations or looped ani's. This is very obvious when there are several orcs near to pc-hero and he is in converstion mode (interactive dialogue) - the animations have to end before any further animations take place, and so you will see the orcs walking about and waiting till the dialogue ends before they begin to attack. This was by-passed in G2 by adding the quick-key healing potions in the middle of a fight - you will see the health bar increase but *no* drinking anim's, as the fighting continues.

But don't you think it's kinda unrealistic? Just like Morrowing, you could stop in a middle of a fight, take whatever you want to, then continue.. How's that possible in reality.. And how can you drink a potion without putting it in your mouth?

P.S. Wulf, nice Sig.
