if you've already been to a path that dead-ended in a giant cut block, go there. Otherwise,

the northern path has a place where you can turn right, some way into there, where you'd go to the artifact temple if you stayed on the left, that takes you to the inside part where all the temples are entrances. You can see where it goes to on your automap, there's really only one place for the path to fit on the auto map, that'll get you close to it.

Thank you Otter

Thank you Otter !!! I went back along the path and I guess I just missed the left turn-I kept getting hit by baddies just before reaching the turn. I finally finished it today, though and picked the last two choices...I have to agree with the earlier posts on this board, that the ending was sort of anti-thrilling...or maybe its just that now I have nothing else to do with my spare time, and I am depressed!...I have played all versions of this game starting in the late 80's, before I found this game, the last I played was WIZ 7 in '95 in my senior year of college...Oh, well atleast Lord of the Rings will be out on the 18th, but then what...any suggestions on a new game to start, anyone? I love the character creation element to this one, and all of the voices...

Well, if you like AD&D there are the Baldur's Gate series, the Icewind Dale series, Planescape: Torment and Neverwinter Nights. Each has their high and low points.
If you want to stick with 1st person 3D there is Morrowind.
Gothic is a great game and Gothic 2 will be out this spring.
If you haven't tried the Fallout series, then shame on you!
Divine Divinity came out recently and I greatly enjoyed that game.

Basically it all depends on what you prefer.

thanks

Just wanted to say thanks to Val and Otter. After reading some reviews on this site I have decided to try Divine Destiny next. I couldn't find it anywhere around here so I went on ebay and "won" an auction for it last night. The person says they will ship Monday; so I can only pray it will be here by Christmas...I guess if I get really desperate I can start another party for wiz 8; I was curious, if you have an all girl party and sacrifice one to Al; do you still meet an Al child in AP later? Just curious if anyone has...

Val,
I'm also new to RPG's. In a previous life I liked FPS's but have now seen the light. I've only played Morrowind (and Tribunal) and am close to finishing W8. I like 1st person and turn-based.
Any suggestions for my next RPG? As I liked W8 (although the battles get a bit monotonous), would MM9 be worth a try? What do you think about Wizards & Warriors? (I've played the demo of Arx Fatalis and can't get into it.)

A lot of people consider MM9 and Wizards & Warriors to be disappointments. One need only look at some of their reviews. dteowner could probably tell you a few horror stories about MM9. Since you come from an FPS background, I would suggest Gothic next. It's an action based RPG with a story that is worthy of any good adventure title. It's 3rd person, but that's no hang-up as the game can really draw you in. It has a great deal of atmosphere. The only hard part is the controls can be clumsy at first, but you can switch them around. Personally, I learned them in 5 minutes, but some people have really complained about them. You should be able to find Gothic for cheap at your local bargin bin. It's well worth taking for a spin. You could also grab the demo for it off the net. There is also a German demo for Gothic 2 that you can try. The English version of Gothic 2 hasn't been released yet.

Btw, welcome to the forums!

If you like Wiz8, I'd strongly recommend a visit to the Might & Magic series. However, DO NOT choose MM9. Since you'd have no expectations going in, you'd probably enjoy MM9 more than long-time series fans, but that just doesn't say much. Try to find MM6 or MM7. I see new copies of both floating around at different stores all the time. MM8 isn't bad, and may be a little easier to find, but 6 and 7 were the high points of the series, IMO. Welcome to the boards.
