Out of a perverse curiosity, I have to ask, how many avatars in total does this make?

The recent flurry of activity has me guessing it has to be well over 500 and maybe as much as 1,000.

732? Then why is it that we only see about ten or twenty different on the boards?

Oh, there are a lot more in general use than that. Many people who I thought were using personal avatars have turned out to be using public ones - I only notice the difference when there is a big "new avatar" unveiling, or I run into someone with the same graphic and get really confused.

I forget I'm using a public one all the time. I'll be reading one of my comments and thinking "I don't remember writing that", when I look a little closer and discover that in fact I didn't...

I ran into that a lot with my first public avatar. For that matter, my second one wasn't much better.

As we get more new members visiting, I expect we'll see more of the new avatars popping up.

It does get confusing! When Sasa and somebody else started useing the warcraft 3 avatar I started with I figured it was about time to get a new one.

most of the newcomers won't use an avatar at all... you just see a dragon and the word RPGdot...

i had the avatar from G2, a dargonhunter (with the black background). sometimes i see somebody with that avatar... it was a great one, i want to thank the one who made it

I like the public avatar gallery, I used the one Mercenary is using now, but 60x60, before changing. Although it can be very confusing when you know someone with a public avatar, like cfm, and then someone else use the same avatar, and if I don't take a closer look at the name, I still think it's cfm.
