At the end of Gothic when the Sleeper is defeated, the hero tells us that he ventures out of the temple, finds that the barrier has been destroyed, and leaves the valley. In Gothic II they needed a reason to justify starting from scratch, and come up with a new ending for Gothic saying that the temple collapsed over the hero, nearly destroying his body. Xardas brings him back, but he has lost/forgotten all his abilities. For Gothic III the developers have said that the hero will start out fairly strong, but that his skills will have atrophied due to misuse on the boat. I'm guessing this means he won't start out as a lvl 40 Magician of the 6th Circle, and as we'll still be able to join multiple guilds he'll probably be fairly weak so we can develop him the way we wish (unless they choose to implement a class selection at the start of the game).
I think their reasons for the diminishing of the hero's powers are pretty weak. Even if he spends several weeks on a boat drinking beer with his buddies, he shouldn't forget all the abilities he's used to slay six dragons. Don't get me wrong, I really prefer the hero to start out weak, character development is the most fun early on, but they need a more realistic reason. So how about this... as it's not realistic for a man to go from being a little wimp to being a dragonslayer and destroyer of orcish armies in a month, the hero, as a chosen of Innos, could have been imbued with his divine power to be able to increase his abilities as quick as he did. When the quest to stop the evil of the undead dragon and it's servants succeeded, the power that Innos granted our hero was withdrawn, making his skills atrophy at the same speed that they were gained, leaving him with the power he would have gained if he had done everything he did without the blessing of Innos.
Hm I think I've been babbling. I hope you know what I meant by all this. |

Well in some german forums (I've traselated them) it is said that the hero will go to Lee's old house to find the proofs lee wants(king)but when the hero goes to the basement of the house a magiican puts a spell on him so he lost all his powers. But those are rumors. _________________ (Firefox_Mythos)(Παντος)Reaperfox(Ρουβαλης)Tezafox Katsaridoktono(Ντουσικος)Che(Ταγαρης)Crusader(nokos)shadowfox(Μηχελης)aquafox(Στελιος)thunderfox_gomos(Γιωργος) |
