I know, but when I bought it, I didn't know. I payed 30$ for it. And when I understood that it was Pirated, I wasn't(and I'm still) able to afford a double purchase. |

Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition has been released for the PC for $30. I found it at Wal-Mart.

Is it worth buying? I have never played any of the elderscrolls before. I finished gothic I and is in middle of gothic II. If it's as good as gothic, I'll buy it.
A few friends of mine have played Morrowind but none finished. They said it's very easy to drift off the main plot and when you are too far off the main plot you don't feel like finishing it.
I don't like a game that's way too big. Gothic took me 50 hours to finish. (it took awhile to figure out controls and banged my head against the wall a few times) I have heard some people say Morrowind is 10 times bigger. So that's 500 hours? If that's the case, no thanks. |

It really depends on what you want from a game.
If you want complete and total freedom to do anything, everything, or nothing, Morrowind is THE game for you. If you want hundreds of quests to do (ranging from simple side quests to multi-step ones), Morrowind would be an excellent choice. If you like pretty graphics, it doesn't get much better (other than the NPC models). If you like a simple learning curve and relatively friendly controls, MW fits the bill. If you like user-made mods to tweak or majorly alter the game, MW fits the bill. If you prefer first-person perspective, there aren't many new choices out there.
If you want the world to change as you progress, save your money. If you want in-depth character development, save your money (the development appears VERY deep at first, but makes little difference when all is said and done). If you want strategic combat, save your money.

Several Tweaks:
1-NPC models are now Waaaaay betterthan any other game with the plugins out there.
2-Plugins aren't only additions to the game, but they also can give you a big new storyline and\or places.
3-There's "Combat Moves", that implement strategic combat into morrowind through scripting.
And after all, you SHOULD get it in any way IMHO. |

Well, Tribunal and Bloodmoon are the official expansion packs which are more or less plugins, albeit very large ones that include changes to the game executables. These you need to pay for.
However, for the PC (not X-Box) there are a huge number of user-created plugins that are free to download and try. Bethesda created a few themselves:
