Mythica Interview at IGN.PC |

IGN PC brings us a Mythica intervíew with with executive producer Matthew Wilson, director and lead game designer Joel Manners, and senior designer Hal Milton. Here's a part of what they tell us about this upcoming MMORPG:

IGNPC: Having a game take place in the Norse afterlife is a pretty nifty twist, how will you be bringing such a fantastic realm to life? What sorts of Norse mythology will be used? Monsters? Gods? Norse heroes?

Joel Manners: Mythica is closely based on the stories that make up Norse mythology. We pull monsters, places, creatures, and, of course, our gods. The sagas set the stage for our entire world, although of course our focus is on the life of the immortals represented in those stories, so we concentrate more on those fables than on the stories of the Norse heroes and their adventures.

However, the sagas are just one set of stories about the Norse mythos, and we are first and foremost creating a version of that world that creates the best game about that world. Many times the mythology is a great inspiration but not the greatest game plan, which is when we take the inspiration and develop what is best for the game.

Hal Milton: We are hitting all of the immortal monsters of legend we can do justice to, while fleshing out a number of the areas left fuzzy by the fragmented versions of the myths at our disposal. Mortal heroes form the foundation of the past, but the role they play in a present three thousand years after they lived has yet to be seen.

|

Yeah, but unlike Funcom Microsoft isn’t going to run out of money. And it’s been in production for two years, instead of being in early stages like Midgard and so much other vaporware.
I can’t wait to have worshipers falling at my feet. |
