PC Action had a table with performance observations. A few quotes, observations and conclusions:
<i>"lower threshold of pain"</i>
500 MHz, 128 MB, GeForce 2.
<i>only 128 MB RAM</i>
YouŽll only get acceptable performance @800*600*16 with a 1.2+ GHz CPU and at least a GeForce3.
<i>GeForce2 MX</i>
Unplayable with 128MB RAM. In combination with 256 MB and 1 GHz tolerable but far from convincing.
<i>Kyro 2</i>
Unplayable.
<i>GeForce 2</i>
Behaves identical to the MX according to the table, which is a bit strange. GeForce 2 and GeForce 4 MX 440 / 460 should do clearly better than an MX due to the higher memory bandwidth.
<i>GeForce 3 / 4 Ti / Radeon 8500+</i>
"Good": 256 MB, 750 MHz.
"Very good": 256 MB 1 GHz.
"Excellent": only with 512 MB and a 1.5 GHz CPU.
Their recommendation is a fast CPU, 512 MB and at least a GeForce3.
I assume PCA didnŽt test all combinations mentioned in the table and interpolated some of the results. So it remains to be seen if Gothic II really needs that much performance. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

The recommended system requirements is higher than Morrowind, and seem like even a little higher than UT2003 (LOL ). However in the case of UT2003, the performances can be easily adjusted according to your system hardwares, to the point of even running smoothly in low-end computer. Hopefully same with G2... _________________

*does a cartwheel*
I can live with "Very Good" until I get a new system. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

'Excellent' is fine enough . I needed my 512 MB RAM for graphics stuff anyway. _________________ Jaz |

I changed my system halfways through playing Gothic I (from Win 98 to Win XPpro at the time). No problems at all for me. _________________ Jaz |
