Sirtech is back in biz, can new games follow??? |
|
Well, anytime now keep fingers crossed for an announcement on Wiz9. Why you say, because the Technical support forum is back up, along with Sirtech's website, and it hasn't been touched in ages. I think that something is stirring in Sirtech, and it is promising |

One problem- SirTech doesn't own the Wizardry or Jagged Alliance franchises anymore. Strategy First does.
Some old news that might interest you
That said, this might be a sign that StratFirst is looking to do something with the Wiz franchise soon. Gotta love that! Then, the question becomes whether they can round up Linda, Brenda, Alex, Charles, and the rest to put the same team back together. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

They still can make a Wizardry 9, they just need to call it something else (Sorcery?, Magiciandry?) _________________ Moderator on RPGdot.com Forum.

How about "This-is-not-Wizardry-game-at-all-9"
Gosh, I sure would love to see sequel to Wizardry. It's my favorite game series ever. _________________ - Druids do not fight with metal weapons! Sit here, and you over here. Put the elbows of your right arms on the table...

I wonder if they're going to do what the Half-life franchise did -- through out a bunch of expansions before they come out with the next main event...Well, maybe not.
Better yet, I would love a map builder with triggers, much like that of Starcraft. Now THAT would do it for me. _________________ Dame it! Hold still so I can target you! |

Really, strategy first bought the rights to Wizardry?? Damn them, they better make a damn good Wiz9, and if they don't have intentions to, they will when I pay them a visit. |

In a recent interview with Robert Sirotech he stated that sirtech was still in buisness and that there was a good chance for the release of Wizardry 9. So I don't think he sold the rights to the wizardry name, not sure about jagged alliance.
Here's the link to the interview.

@Lightwave- linked that same article in my first post.
@everyone-
I'm pretty sure I saw that Strategy First picked up the Wiz franchise a few months after the announcement about the Jagged Alliance franchise. I could be getting senile, though...
And, to clarify another point, "Please note that since Sir-tech Canada is no longer in operation" Taken from here
And finally: "In addition to the agreement made with Strategy First to manage the Jagged Alliance franchise, another partner is being sought to handle the Wizardry franchise in the same manner. Announcements shall be made public when a home for select Wizardry back-catalog products is found." Taken from here _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I'm pretty indifferent about what the people behind the franchise are calling them self now, I just know that I very much like to have a Wiz 9 game.
I even don't care if they would use the same graphic engine, although it could need an update.
Just imagine a hole new massive world to explore, with a brand new story, many new NPC fractions, and many new impressive moody places like the swamp, the threetop society, the underwater caves, the rapax castle, the monestary and many more...........Wizardry 9 (Sigh) _________________ Moderator on RPGdot.com Forum.

Make that two of us! I spent about 9 months playing nothing but Wiz8 (well, there was a couple weeks in there to get completely disgusted with MM9), and went back to it after some time with Morrowind. The only games to ever suck me in like that were XCom and MM7. Gads, I'd love to feel that "compelling need to play" again... _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I found that the only way to remedy this situation is to hit myself upside the head with a sledge hammer so I can forget everything I know of Wizardry 8 and all the other games I've played a thousand times. I just gotta know exactly where to hit myself....hmmm Oh wait! I think I've done that once before. Funny how I forgot that. I suppose my persistent headache explains now why I'm still living in Southern California _________________ Dame it! Hold still so I can target you! |

I do not think they need to have all of them. One or two should be enough. I just hope that Wizardry 9 will be good sequel of this good series. |

At Sir Tech's revamped site there is a link for careers but when you click it says no positions available...so maybe they already have whom they need to make Wiz 9???? Who knows, maybe its already done, there's just legal manuvering going on(yes, the shrew is often accused of living in a fantasy world...) _________________ Hindsight is 20/20...there is opportunity in crisis...Member of The Alliance of Middle Earth |
