Which house to join?
   

I know it is probably personal preference, but does can anyone advise on which is the best house to join?

The Great Houses are divided along the class line... Hlaalu is more on the thievish/roguish side, Telvanni is the mages' house and Redoran the fighters' house. As you said, in the end it's up to you to decide which house to join.
