if you whant to have loats of monney just jopin the mercenaries
and onar will give you 50 gp every day (i you ask him about paymant)
but this will cost you , you can't raise mana so easy you will receive a penalty so i advice you first level up a bit so you can use almost al of the scrools . (& i think you'll have lots of monney to buy the scrolls)
And there is another reason too : you will be on the right side and the armour looks prety cool

there are better ways of geting the money then joining mercs
and why are you thinking that the mercs are "right" side |

Long range ... easy killing at low levels already .....

the paladin armor is nice and arrows bounce off it
but they r not the coolest
the coolest is the mercs good people good money and no aligence to anyone but yourself none of that b.s about innos .
plus all your old friends from gothic 1 is there

i'm just one that first finished the gpothic 1 game and there are a lot of
characters from there (e.g. lester,diego,gorn,lee,lares,milton,wolf,tarlof)
and most of them are against paladins.so there remains 2 options the monastery and the mercenaries.
If you whana be able to handle a sword you must choose the mercenaries.
anyway the monaastery is to hard in the first 2-3 chapters

A week ago I though the Dragon-hunters were the coolest..but now that I'm a Mage I like them more...they have much more fun quests..I love theyr quests..but the Dragon-hunter armor is really the best  |

Why do you say they are against the Paladins? Laster, Milten, Lares And others are not against them...
And why do you say that to handle a sword you need to play a merc, I Was A batter warrior as a paladin, I was MUCH stronger and much batter fighter...
you Never played as a paladin right?

I dont understand, Why does everybody say that you earn more money as a merc?  As a merc i finished with Bearly 15000 GO
But with a paladin i finished with 40000 GP, If you say that its becoz onar pay you, He Payed Me Once In all the time that I played as a merc, He always had an exuse for not paying me! 
Please, the guys that never played as a merc AND as a paladin, Please dont say Things you dont know... But if you did played as both, Then Ok.. |

i've played as a dragon hunter and i'm playing as a mage now
For sure the most fun is the mage with my experince, the mage is a god, nothing can touch him |

yeah, the mage quest are very fun, the Mercenary quests su*ks..and you can even do some of them in another guild too..
@Pikkon: The paladin armor look cool to, but I love the black-colored look the dragon-hunters have..All Paladin, Mage and Dragon Hunter armor are cool, but Militia, Novice and Mercenary armor all looks terrible..specally the Novice armor |

I guess you are right... I think The Mercnary armour is the worst, It looks SO bad... I have a Cool Pic of a Paladin, Its not from Gothic, I Made it, But It doesnt show me any picture when i try to post it here... |

None of these two classes make a better fighter. It all depends on how you spend your skill points. It's equally easy for both classes to increase strenght and combat

Again, I don't think one of the classes make money easier than the other. My guess is that you took alot more time when playing as a paladin (doing more subquests and so on), and therefore you made more money.
Besides, just because you made more as a paladin, it doesn't mean it's easier for a paladin to make money
