Adelphia Power Link Cable? Game Server Hosting?! Game Speeds |
|
I've been waiting for years to use a fast connection. Finally, Adelphia Power Link is coming. It'll be available within a month. Being a hardcore gamer, you can imagine I was very excited! Unfortunately, I was just told by someone online that customers using Adelphia cable aren't allowed to host game servers. My response? WHOAA! WTH!! ARGGG!!
*pulls hair out* - *stomps on hair* - *spits on adelphia pamphlet* - *cries tears of silent hatred* - *ahhhhh!* *PS. AHHH some more!*
Sorry, I had to let that out of my system! Maybe this guy doesn't know what he's talking about? Is he wrong? For years I've played with people in multiplayer games using fast high-speed cable connections, the whole time always wondering how blissfully magnificent it must be! Can I safely expect to be able to host servers of 8-12 people without lag in most hybrid games? (BF1942, etc...)
I also wanted to ask if anyone knows of a site that lists all the recommended connection speeds for multiplayer games? I'm very interested in seeing a list for hybrid/MMOG games. I want to view their recommendations for hosted servers with different amounts of players and for playing in other peoples dedicated servers. A big list with speeds for different scenarios would be awesome. If anyone has a link, please post it! (I'm not interested in merely looking at the back of the box to see the recommended connection speeds. I'd like to view more specific estimates.) _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.
