T&L isnt a necessity but makes the game good, like Sun and Water effects and that weird alamaxpayne smoking swampweed effect.

ive tried G2 on 2 machines a lowend and highend PC

Lowend was

256mb DDR
Geforce2 MX
900mhz Duron
30gig HD

Ran ok with some stuff set to medium and effects like water and shadows turned off, was nice and fast, even at the expense of 40-60% draw distance. Infact that limited sight helped keep me on edge when you heard an animal in the distance

Well, I have 512 MB DDR RAM, AMD Athlon XP 2000+, ATI Radeon 9000 128 MB DDR, and I can play with 200% view distance, maximum texture details and 800x600x32, and it runs just fine except for the town.

Do you use Cat.3.4 and have the Radeon Hack in the gothic.ini disabled?
