How do I repair my silver short sword? amongst other things

I'm still walking around Seyda Neen, been to a few tombs and required the need for a silver weapon.. It seems that Ancestor Ghosts are immune to damage from all weapons, except silver ones. Anyway, silver is a soft metal and my short sword is used up. The local merchant, Arrille, doesn't have anymore silver swords available. So how do I repair my sword? Is there a blacksmith or something in Seyda Neen?
Speaking of Arrille, when does he get some good weapons in? He has mostly iron stuff. Yes, I know it's a little early in the game to wield the infamous Nellik's Sword; but, these cheap little wooden swords don't cut it. Can I assume that there will be more appropiate weapons later in the game?
Speaking of the game, this is quite a pretty game. I find myself standing and just looking around the areas looking at the scenery. The night scenes are quite nice, with the skys going from blue to purple to black and back to blue again. I like the effect on rain when it hits the water. All in all, it is quite a nice game and really well worth the wait (from Daggerfall). This game can't be as large as Daggerfall, can it? I mean Daggerfall was huge, you could go to a lot of different places. Hopefully, this game is at least half as large, and as open-ended as Daggerfall was.

To find a blacksmid you should go to Palagiad. It's north of Seyda Neen.
The main quest requires you to go to Balmora. Palagiad is on the road to Balmora.
In Balmora thre are some guild you can join. Fighter, Mage, thief and more.

In those towns you can find weapons in chest if your lucky. If you don't find anything good then don't take anything out of those chest. The next time you start the game up, you will find some other stuf in those chest. (go to windows and start game again)

Do you have a good Armourer skill? You can repair weapons and armour using Armourer's Hammers - Arille sells a few (look under Misc). Equip one and it'll bring up the repair menu, from which you can click on things to try to repair them.

However, if you have a low Armourer skill, you'll fail more often than succeed. But Hammers are quite cheap, and it's handy to carry one around in case your kit gets dented and you're miles from a town.

(Note: your Armourer skill will increase based on *successful* repairs, so it might be worth training up before trying to increase it by repairing things; it'll take a LONG time to repair things with a skill <20.)

Alternatively, as XeroX said, find someone who offers to repair your equipment (Pelegiad is closest, but Balmora is where you're probably on the way to anyway...)

(Note 2: once you reach Balmora join the fighters guild - they have a chest in the guild house that contains 10 (20?) hammers you can have for free!)

Wel, the physical area covered is much, much smaller. The number of towns is much, much smaller. The number of places to go and people to see are much, much smaller. But the game is *very* carefully designed so the physical size is irrelevant - you'll always have something to do unless you've TOTALLY covered the entire island!

not many traders have good weapons. You get good weapons by killing enemys and robbing usualy. You can repair a weapon urself if you have high armorer skill. Just walk around the traders and try to find a hammer, buy the hammer, open the inventory, take it with your mouse and drop it on your carachter. Repair weapon should now open. You can find ppl who repir your weapons/armor everywhere. You have Repair option when talking to them. Silver weapons are not only ones who can damage ghosts and some other weapon immune creatures. Any enchanted weapon can damage those creatures

If you just started then go to Ra'virr, a trader in Balmora, and kill him and take his encahnted weapons and use them. This is how I started off with a good weapon in the game and it worked wonders.
