Well, here's this old thread if anyone wants to add a list of their favourite RPG's. I have to say that Wizardry 8 is crawling up my top N list.

I'm suprised no one listed Chrono Trigger. People seem to love it.

I am pleased that several people mentioned Deus Ex and/or SS2.

My list is different from yours because I play RPGs only for one year. One more thing - I did not played more than 8 RPGs so every RPG I ever played is in my top 10 .

1. Wizardry 8
2. Gothic
3. Dungeon Siege (not finished yet, but...)
4. Diablo I + II
5. Might and Magic 9 (not finished yet, but...)
5. IceWind Dale + HoW
6. Arcanum
7. Baldurs Gate 2

1.Arcanum
2.Morrowind
3.Planescape Torment
4.Fallout 2
5.Gothic
6.Baldurs Gate 2
7.Return to Krondor
8.Quest for Glory 5
9.Icewind Dale
10. Nox (Maybe not a real RPG, but i had alot of fun playing it!)

Arcanum is and will forever be my favourite RPG game, well, if they make a follower, that game may have a chance.

Is SS1 DOS-based? I loved SS2 but never played the first one.

Yes, it was DOS based, and it was a lot better than No. 2.

OK, I'll play!

1) MM7
2) Wiz8
3) MM6
4) Planescape
5) Fallout 1
6) Deus Ex

Lots of good games out there, but these really stood out for me. Actually, let me add one more time-sink to the list. Anybody remember....

7) Moria (or was it Dungeons of Moria)

Edit for Windwalking's "study": here's the rest of a top ten:
MM8
9) Arcanum
10) Wizards and Warriors

1. Gothic
2. The Sims (since Xen told me that I couldn't say
it isn't a CRPG in another thread!)
3. Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption
4. Dungeon Siege
5. Evil Islands
6. Might and Magic IX
7. Arcanum

Anyway, I've only played these seven so that's the biggest list I can make.

Oh... please don't flame me about The Sims, blame EverythingXen.

I played several RPGs, but I'm not into the 'hardcore' stuff at all. As soon as I have to perform mathematical operations to calculate spell effects or read Sun Tzu to get my party working, I quit (talking about Dungeon Master here ).

To be forced to think about more than 'how do I get from point A to point B' is too much for my limited strategical skill. Which is why I like C&C ... and being a loner, I prefer the hybrid action/adventure/RPGs where you don't have a party.

Still at it (been too busy to play lately)...

I hated it for the first 10 minutes, but then I saw that it's just like C&C, just from another point of view... running over grunts with a tank, yep, now that's a game for me .

Though I was sverely disappointed that you have to play the role of this GDI puke. I've always been a NOD fan...

Well, we can all agree that NOD is a lost cause indeed.
