Earth & Beyond: Important Premium Services Notice |
|
EA/Westwood have <a href="http://test.earthandbeyond.ea.com/news/news_article.jsp?news_id=1867" target="_blank">announced</a> at the official 'Earth & Beyond' website that all premium services for their space-based MMORPG will be suspended as of June 24. This move is made in preparation of the game's shutdown (<a href="http://www.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10077&newsid=26628">story</a>) on September 22. |

Wickett,
I am just curious. Are you upset because Earth and Beyond is being cancelled? I will fuel a debate by saying every online game on the market at this moment will eventually cease to exist.
In the case of Earth and Beyond, Rubies of Eventide and a handful of other forgotten worlds, lack of subscribers and subsequent lack of revenue were the culprits.
Successful games including Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, Anarchy Online and Ultima Online will simply be replaced by superior products produced by the same companies. Classic games from 10, 15, 20 yeras ago are still loved by millions but all have been improved upon. |
