i just downloaded the demo , and all i see is black. one icon on bottom left, and three bottom right. does this game start in the dark, or do i have a problem?

attn:ATI card users. you need to read the readme file on the fishtank website. you need to edit a file in order to view this game. ATI=1, instead of 0. if you get the black screen like i did, the fix is in the readme file which as far as in can tell is not included with the download. looks pretty cool now. i actually released the first prisoner without seeing anything b4 i fixed it. very frustrating. good luck.
