Glowing Orbs?

I keep seeing these glowing orbs at various places in the NewWorld area. What are these?

As far as I can tell they are there to get in the way of your targeting while you fight...

You can shoot them with a crossbow (at least I've been able to shoot few).

They are wisps and they can be killed.

They never really gave me any problems, though there was one fight where they really got in the way ... after that I went out of my way to take them out.

Ghost lights are hostile but they don't do damage, they are irritating however and I killed/destroyed them.

Damaging Balls of Light

Most of the ones I came in contact with didn't do damage. But I did meet some that did do damage, specifically in the area to the Ice Dragon.

I'm still not far into the game, and have only met one of these stupid little lights, and he was the bane of my existence! The little bugger was as annoying as Mud, but not nearly as entertaining. Whenever I pulled my sword out it started dealing damage and I couldn't do jack about it! Finally I just hit 'reload' and avoided the thing altogether.

Yep. They can do damage, albeit little. However, if you're weak and have little armor (or none) they could end up quite a nuissance.
