It was already announced that the BG2 expansion ToB would be the end of the BG saga.

I played through the whole thing with a magician guy. He got so powerful. When you can cast three 9th level spells in a row, you can kill seriously. Never tried it with any other class though.

This was announced but there are quite a few signs (or just plain speculation depending on your position) that Black Isle's Jefferson project may well have been BG3, although almost certainly not continuing the Bhaalspawn story line.

Unfortunately with Jefferson "on hold", possibly because Interplay appears to have lost licensing rights for further BG games, we may never see it.

Yeah I have heard that from other persons as well so I'm starting to believe it.

Think for a moment. Why do you play through BG1???.....not because it's as good as the second part, but because in the first part you get five extra character points from spell books. These are :
1strenght
2.dexterity
3.constitution
4.intelligence
5.wisdom
6.charisma

Tanks to it your character gets stronger and stronger.
Always wanted to make a powerful paladin. Those extra points make it easier.

I cannot say that three times I played BG1 I payed any special attention to those books. On the other hand, I'm not a powergamer, but rather a roleplayer. Many people say that BG2 is better (and, probably, it is), but original BG certainly has a very special charm in it. 9th level charm, if you please

I play BG often because when I want to create a new character I play from the begining so my stats are pumped to the max. Then I take such a character through the BG sage and end as a god at the TOB ending

If you play BG1 just for the stat boost, then why not shadowkeeper them in BG2 directly? Saves time and feels as cheaty as those weird tomes anyway

Speaking of BG1, I recently found out that there is a polish mod/add-on called NTotSC (North Tales of the Sword Coast). Even while the name is in english, the mod itself seems to be in polish (didn't bother to download the 154mb just to check out)... so the question is if it's really polish(-only)? Anybody knows/tried?

It can be found here: http://www.isle.px.pl/download.htm

Yeah the main reason fo me starting at BG1 is for those tomes that boost your strength, dexterity, etc... by 1 point.

Most powerful character: Single class mage.

Powergamed to lev 63 Necromancer and he totally kicks everything around. Nothing compared to one of my friends, though, who over the course of 4 years, created a lev 208 (no joke, completely serious, and it was legit too) Necromancer who was completely unbeatable.

Powergamers?, pah!,

I've played through Bg1 and Bg2 several times from 1 to 2 with the same character,

Paladin

Fighter

Fighter/Mage

It's not about the amount of backstab damage you can do or the amount of hitpoints, it's about the game man!.
