mine quest bug?
   

I talked to Grimes and he told me what I needed to know, but it didn't go in my journal and Lord Garond is still waiting for me to bring back news about it. Is this a known bug, and how can I get around it?

You need to use Grimes' info and go find Marcos. Marcos will have the actual info you need to report to Garond.
