Waiting for v1.4

I saw that Xen had put up a release date prediction over at the official board, so I thought I'd do the same.

Everyone here planning on getting back into the game once the patch/update comes out?

This game will probably come out here already as 1.4. At least distributer says so. We will see, still waiting for this game to be released here.

I am waiting. I am hung up with something stuffing the game for me. Did it say if it will install over old save games? If not I may as well delete and start over.

( To tired to go searching for info myself today. lol)

I've been having fun being a Pirate (ya-har!) so the fixes don't really matter much... still, it will be nice to see what gets changed and get the missions fixed.

Three million credits in two hours of piracy... aye, tis a pirate's life for me... ya-har.

AI improvements to make combat much harder.... more NPCs bopping around the galaxy... some new missions... some fixed missions... some stuff they won't tell anyone about.

Boy, really didn't think we'd be waiting this long. Been working a 4-man thru Wiz8 to "fill time", but it's starting to get to the point where I'm going to start something for real and X2 v1.4 will just have to wait until I'm done. I'm glad Egosoft is doing the patch, but it's hard not to get impatient.

No it's not. The patch says 98% complete but I stand by my September release date. Just have to chill out, relax, play the game, or play other games. I haven't played much... did a 4 hour stint to buy a battleship in my 'Emperor' game and might do another four hour stint to buy a carrier for the heck of it... but probably not as it will take the better part of 120 game hours to build the shields for one and I'll barely use it.

I while away the hours hitting refresh all day at Egosoft... Still 98%. Damn.

The big question: is it as good as we hope? They never are, you know.

Indeed. People are hyping it up to be the be all and end all of space simulation games after the patch... but it's still just X2 under the hood. Putting a blower and a spoiler on a mid-size sedan doesn't change the fact it's a mid-sized sedan. X2 will never be a Ferrari or Lamborgini. Fantastically fun sedan with a turbo-charged blower and nifty spoiler and racing stripes (to make the car go faster) is the best it can possibly ever hope for with its non-existent physics engine and the rest of the problems (most of which it shares with pretty much EVERY space game).

99%!

In true Egosoft board style, I will now start 5 new threads about this astounding news.

Heh. They're trying to upload the patch now but a thousand people hitting F5 continuously on the download page to be the first to get the patch have utterly erradicated Egosoft's bandwith. Nothing can get done.... connecting to the message board works 1 time out of 7, and most of the site is nothing more than a white page reading 'critical error connecting to database'.

The irony of fans so hyped up for the patch now being the factor to the delay of the release after months of waiting is delightful.

Well, I have downloaded the patch and installed it...

About to reboot and watch my empire collapse into a bug ridden wreckage... or get torn apart by rampaging better AI pirates, xenon, and khaak....

Test Pilot Baron Von Xen ... away!
