*SPOILER* Zoo key doesn't work - how to open cages?

I'm in the Zoo to release the animals, but the key I've been given was obviously a fake, because none of the cage doors will open. I've searched every chest, etc., and can't find another key. None of the characters I've ancountered seems to have the key either - the hostile ones I've killed don;t have it, and nobody else can open the cages, apparently. How do I open them?

since you didn't do it, i guess i gotta..

*SPOILER*

the cages don't open from the front, but form the back. and you don't need a key but a lever in the room where the master of animals (or whatever his name) is. room is full of bird cages and such.

Duh. I found it a bit later. I'm going to have to use the close up view a bit more often.

Press TAB to highlight all objects in the room that you can interact with, easier to spot levers and such, especially in darker rooms.

The animals will come out even if you don't unlock the cages. They seem to
just somehow come out from between the bars. They did in mine anyway.
