Music in Morrowind…

I am having a blast putting my own music in the game. I have stored the original files in another folder and added 20 files of my own in their place.

I’ve used everything from Copland and John Williams to Irish Folk.
I replaced the main Morrowind theme with John Williams’s theme from the movie “The Cowboys” it really zips things up.

Having more files means you don’t keep hearing the same thing over and over.
Does anyone know whether there is a limit to how many files you can have?
I'm going to add more when I have time, it takes a while to go through them and find things that sound like they fit.

20 files in the exploring folder doesn’t seem to present any problems.

Also does anyone know if the editor will allow you to connect specific music file to specific places or events?

Anyway if you haven’t tried this have at it.

I don't think that it matters how many MP3 files you have, as it just randomnly selects from the files available. I have close to a hundred MP3 files in both the Battle and Explore directories, (including Michael Jackson's "Beat it" and AC/DC's "Big Balls" and "Stayin' Alive" for some of my fight songs...) I have not figured out how to link the specific MP3's to events in the game, but I am almost positive that it can be done. I have heard people talk about doing that, but I am not sure where...

I cant wait to get home now! Didnt even think about doing that. Wonder how the game will feel with hardcore punk, ska and techno playing in the background.

guess i can unmute the music volume now. Strut into town feeling like a badass with my own personal thrashing theme music... Yea...

Whoa, this is a great idea. I didn't know you could do this. Do you have to use MP3s or can you use WAV files, too?

The music is okay in the game, but whoever thought it was good enough to release as a CD soundtrack was...confused. It's synthesized air pudding.

But oh for the chance to put in tracks from Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, and Crouching Tiger!

The music in the game is not synthesized. It is an actual orchestra and is brilliant. Sure, there should have been more music, but the music there is VERY nice.

Midiboy,

I didn't mean to offend, sorry. I should've pointed out that all of that was my opinion only and not just made a blanket statement. And I didn't know that it was a real orchestra.

When I got the MW collector's edition, I slapped the soundtrack CD in the 5-disk player alongside Crouching Tiger, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars ep1. In my opinion, the MW soundtrack just couldn't hold its own.

But with music, everyone's got a preference.

Anyway, sorry for the offence.

Or even better... the Empires theme for the original Starwars... oh yea.
Or the William Tell Overture.

Oh nonono! No offense was taken at all! I do agree that the sound track could have used more, but I do think that what was there was awesome! I do agree that with music it is "to each his own." But, I totally was not offended! Thanks though! (It takes a LOT to offend me, and personal preferences can almost never offend me.)

I'm pretty sure that you have to use MP3 files, but you can download a CD Ripper free and use anything that you have on a CD.

I'm also pretty sure that you can convert the wave files which are very large to MP3 format.

I just got the CD for "Lord of the Rings" so I am gong to rip that and put some of that Music into the game as well.

Does anyone know if some one is plannig a 3D game like Morrowind based on the "Lord of the Rings"?

I would love a game where I could Play Frodo or Gandalf.

Wow it looks great but no PC version.

I suppose that the people that make the Game Machines don't want competition from the PC but it seems to me that there are probably a lot more PCs out there then there are X Boxes.

If they want to sell games why not include a PC version as well.

I just loaded most of the Lord of the Rings music into the game it really works great.

Perfect match for the game, I put a couple of the wild tracks in battle and the rest in explore.

Morrowind's soundtrack is decent, but it plays "good" songs at "bad" times

Example, I climb up red mountain...aka hell on earth, and i have the la-dee-dah "welcome to our elven town of minstrils!" music playing...

we just need to put some FF6 music in there, and bingo
