She is not in the crypt. Go back to the city, and outside in the plaza go to the rooms on your right as you leave the crypt. You will find a clue as to where to look. You may want to use the search and find all the Shanny threads here in Arx forum. It is a tricky quest to get done. I won't give you spoilers unless you ask.

I hereby officially request a spoiler... Not that I like to cheat, but I am concerned that she has already been killed and if that is indeed the case, I might aswell just start a new game ..
Also if you could advise me how this teleport spell works, for me it just seems to make me float a few feet off the ground... and finally how to reach that high area inside the crypt, I will be very happy.

Welcome to the boards by the way. I should have said that the first time. Ok if you want help, I will be glad, but first some info from you. Are you using pc or xbox? If pc, do you have the patch? Now for a little work on your part. To tell you where to go or look it will be much easier if you get the maps. If you don't want the walkthrough you can just download all the maps. Go to the arx hosted site here to the left of the screen. You will find them in the support files.

The teleporters all all activated by you once the snake lady shows you how the first time. If she did, then look in your log under journal and find the speech she gave you. The spell is there. If you have not met her for her to show you, just wait.

Shanny is in the caves. You have to find the snake pillar one. After that it is a matter of timing your attack so you get to her before she dies, but not too soon or she dies as well. When you get to that part, we can discuss it more if you need it. She is still waiting on you. There doesn't seem to be a time limit. Just be sure when you see that pillar, save the game. It is a bugger and you will have to reload I am sure. Don't know of anyone who saved her the first try. The timing is key, but you almost have to let her die once to figure it out.

The high place in the crypt is vague, but if you mean the area above the tomb of the king where you get the shield, there is a button in the wall opposite the tomb. It opens a secret passage up to the catwalk.

Hope this helps. You will find there are plenty of others who will be glad to help as well.

I will use the maps to find that pillar, I think I got a bit carried away and now I am being pursued by some kind of beast which doesn't die ...
The high up area was in the area to the right of the troll camp, there was a ledge high up and if you travel left along the wall, there is a lower wooden ledge with a ramp leading up ... I wanted to use levitate but as I said earlier, I don't seem to be able to get a lift.
Oh yeah.. and I am fully updated because I got the latest patch today and I am using the pc version.

Sounds like you have a lot of game left to play out. You can not reach that ledge, but there is a spot to the right with some goodies in that area. Hint for levitate. It will not let you go higher than where ever you are when you use it. Trick it to stand or jump up on the highest spot you can find and then cast it. If it is ending on you it is the mana and you must recharge that or wait for higher level character to make the spell last longer for you. Explore away, but don't kill anyone, except a rat man. Even some of the seeming current enemies will be needed later in the game to finish it.

If you get too frustrated, don't feel bad. The one bad aspect of this game is the lack of any real ingame direction as to what to do next. The walkthrough in the PDF file is great. It has all the maps, item discriptions and locations, and of course a complete walkthrough. Best thing about it is that the walkthrough is more a guide and has little details in it. Many things are left for you to discover on your own. Specific locations are listed in the text under the maps and not the walkthrough. I used it as a back check. Find out where to go next, go there, play out the action, then check the walkthrough to see if I missed something, messed up or what ever. Up to you of course as to how you like to play. But it is an option. Have fun and post if you need help.
