Hello,
Can anybody tell me if there are other games in a similar theme to Gothic? By this I mean first/third person and "simplified" gameplay, especially in regards to conversations.
I tried Morrowind, but don't like it too much... firstly I hate the delay when going from exterior to interior or different zones and much prefer Gothics methods. I also dislike the conversions in Morrowind, and definitly prefer Gothics menus as opposed to clicking a dozen silly keywords in Morrowind - guess I'm just impatient .
I've take a look through the "Top Rated Games" list on this site, but haven't had much luck in tracking down any others... any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks;

Try NeverWinterNights or Dungeon Siege. Both are relatively new, so should be still easy to find in shops.
Both are 3rd Person. You can build parties. But they are somewhat linear in terms of game path, when compared to Gothic, although NWN is the more scaleable of the two.
Otherwise just wait 2 months for the release of Gothic 2 in Germany! _________________ Erb Duchenne |

Thanks for the replies, I will take a look at the games that have been mentioned, although in the case of NWN and Dungeon Seige, I thought there were more like isometric RPG's, or at least not the third person view I meant to describe (which is first person from behind and slighly above but still essential first person).
Once again, thanks for the prompt responses!
Regards;

Redguard is another one. Pretty old but pretty similar. _________________ Jaz |

Dungeon Siege has nothing in common with Gothic. Itīs just a shallow hack&slash game.
You can find many older threads with the same topic and far more infos in the Gothic General forum. Simply use the search function. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Yep, as has been stated Dungeon Siege is nothing like Gothic, also NWN is quite different (and boring, I might say).
These have been listed but this is what I think:
Arx Fatalis (probably, not out yet in english)
Ultima IX (very Gothic-like but has some technical issues)
Outcast
And older ones:
Ultima Underworld I & II (similar to Arx in that they are underground)
And if a fantasy environment isn't required, maybe also:
System Shock 1 & 2
Somehow I couldn't find any suspense in Morrowind and it got boring, all of the above have a strong story and atmosphere. |

Isnt rune like gothic? I played rune for about 2 hours and i'd have to say its a soothing easy to anybody's patience as far as reading is concerned. The puzzles can be maddning, yet like I said, I've only had the chance to play about an hour or two. |

Rune is more like... wait... Legacy of Kain or Tomb Raider. If you liked Ruune you should also try the old Die by the Sword. _________________ Jaz |

Outcast and Ultima IX are the nearest games I think of.
Rune is just Hack&Slash IMHO... |

And far inferior in gameplay to Die by the sword. Available for $10 US from interplay. _________________ "It has been a grand journey- well-worth making once."

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."
