You may have switched from Continuous to Phased combat mode. If so, you can continue combat by clicking the check mark on the bottom right of your screen, or pressing Return or Enter on the keyboard.

Sorry to topic bane, but to answer the questions posted here:

1) IIRC, speak to the Shaman about the 7th bough. You can find it, but not do much unless you have 2 items. Get the 2 items, go there, invoke the items, complete a quest, and return to the shaman in his new location.
2) You probably do, but it doesn't matter for now. Later in the game, if you do certain optional quests, you will know the right call name you need. (On a side note, if you put in "Enterprise" from Star Trek, it will give you a funny but irrelevant resopnse.)
3) The monks aren't impressed by you showing them the fake. If you want a spoiler, start a new thread and I'll give it to you.
4) Marten's Bluff is not so tough if you enter from the swamps. 2 reasons for this. a) autoleveler. b) it's one of the starting points from an alternate beginning.

Zuzu petals are 1/2 of what you need to invoke the vision of the shaman. Vines are not the other half, but are used for something else entirely. Figuring out how and where to use the vines will certainly help you get further in the game....

Hmmm, ok well I figured out how to repair the bridge, new problem now:
I talked to Madras and he gave me a bunch of powders and I bought some orange goo from him...
but now I cant seem to find this potion and I dont have the money or the skills to get the real Astal Dominae from the rat guy...

I think I might have to re-roll and pay closer attention to my inventory this time...

Ah the book (sacred tome) yes it gives some kind of descrription in there, but wasnt too sure, see other post

Fuzzfas the potionmaker (down on Bough 2) just might have a vial or two of the suitably named "Mysterious Potion".

The Merchants all restock at least twice a day, and some things may show up in their inventory only after you've been around awhile. You can also save just before putting the lips to'em because the inventory is rolled when you enter conversation mode; you can restart (if it's your first time talkiing to them in that 8-hour stocking time) and get some different stuff.

Ok, heres a new one:

The Rat Chief wants to sell me the DD for 96K...am I going to have to save up to get it or?...
Killing the rat breeders is as far as I've gotten in any of my W8 games. Now that Im clear up to that point, I rerolled and am working my way back to that point.

PS- That run to Arnika and Trynton have to be the hardest runs I've ever made in any video game. Jeez!!

Although you can do it either way, I strongly believe you were meant to go from arnika to mt gigas, and then down to trynton and martens bluff.

Theres fewer encounters that way.
The long road is difficult definitely.

There is only one rpc in trynton. Theres 2 in mt gigas. theres assorted others everywhere else. There are only say 10 total in the game, some of which are short timers.

You can pay the don for the dominae or kill him.

very difficult battle usually. I believe you are meant to leave and go to the swamp and then come back later....

very interesting.
so the path is
Monastery
to Arnika
to Mt Gigas
to Trynton?

I dont even know where mt gigas is but from what I've been hearing from the npc's I assumed the path was to hit A then T and then Mt G...
Well I only just made it to Arnika last night, maybe I'll clear it out and head for Gigas next...although from arnika I remember a mountain pass, the road to trynton and the swamplands, never saw Mt Gigas (although I guess its through the Mtn pass now that I think about it)

And you say there are two PCs that can join me there?
Cause I dont like Myles too much (got my own, much better thief) and Wi is ok for a Val but I would like to try someone else still (and I know that Myles leaves when you you head for Martens Bluff)

Now for the Don...if I kill him will:
I get ALL his loot or at least the DA for sure?
there be negative reprocussions for killing him later?

Whats the point of wasting 96K for the orb when that loot could help me suit my entire patry with Uber armor

Discuss.

You can win the game without ever setting foot on Mt. Gigas. The order you tackle the main quest is largely up to you. The "monestary to Arnika" run is nearly mandatory, but after that you've got several choices. The main quest, as you know, continues from Arnika to Trynton and on from there. Sir-Tech reportedly planned for parties to hit level 7 in Arnika and level 10 in Trynton. Beyond that, it's up to you. You can clear Gigas (a good cash-n-XP run), or you could return to the monestary for some special loot, or you could dig right into some other areas (Although that wouldn't really be a good idea).

There are no penalties for killing the Don, although most people get their crews to level 13 or more before attempting it. You'll get everything he carries (including the best weapon in the game if you have the right character to use it).
