Most problems fixed, just one remaining, suggestions? |
|
I've had pretty much all of the pesky crashing issues that the game can dish out. Thanks to your wonderful sticky, I've been able to fix nearly all of them. Only one remains. Whenever I enter the Old Mine, the game freezes and does not respond, requiring me to reboot. Sometimes it does it immediately, sometimes it takes almost 30 seconds, but it invariably happens. Also, when I save a game in that short period, the save (even though the game will continue for a few seconds afterwards) is corrupted and unloadable.
Here are my specs:
Windows XP Pro.
AMD 1700+
ATI Radeon 9000
SB Live <- most likely culprit, I think
512 MB Ram
1000 MB Virtual Memory Size
Here's what I've done so far to solve these crashing problems:
- Removed all graphics and sound card drivers and installed the latest for my models.
- Changed sound settings to DirectSound HW and turned reverb off. (Yee!)
- Changed Sound Hardware Acceleration in DXDiag to None, Basic, and Full.
- Upgraded to 1.08k.
That's about all that I was able to glean from previous posts that applied to my system. It worked very well, except for this one (still quite significant) problem. Any other suggestions? They would be very appreciated.
Thank you,
Trinian |

Kill all spyware with AdAware from www.lavasoft.de .
Disable all programs running in the background. Especially virus scanner, firewall, overclocking tools and MS Office indexing. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Whoops, forgot to put that on the list of things done. I always do that stuff anyway. Ad-aware is a weekly ritual for me. Nothing non-essential is running in the background. Thanks for the quick reply, though - WOW. Any other suggestions? |
