Final Fantasy XI: Another Cliche'd MMORPG?

There's been a lot of hype surrounding Final Fantasy XI, but many are claiming that it is nothing more than a typical MMORPG with all the bugs and problems of every other MMORPG on the market.

Check this VG Cats cartoon out.

I havent heard anything really. But i never did like FF so im not looking for any info about it. FF is too console-ish for my tastes. I can imagine its just like the other MMOs. Nobody so far has changed the formula very much.

From what I've read and heard about it, it sounds like FFXI is a conventional mmorpg with some twists. Apparently the way they tell the story is very well done. But I haven't see any of it firsthand. I'm curious about it though. The only problem is that I've read many times over that this is not a solo-player's game at all, and that may be a problem.

As far as bugs go, what I have heard is that it's pretty decent since this is more or less a game that went through a retail release long before now already. What we're getting in the North American package is the retail version and the expansion pack, for which japanese customers had to pay extra to get. So I don'T think this game should be very buggy, and as I've heard myself it isn't an issue.
