FFXI got me out of the limbo |
|
Played EQ for 3 years, got tired, tried DAoC, E&B, SWG and ATitD, didnt like it and started to think that the light at the end of the tunnel was WoW. But WoW will be out when the chickens can bark or when the dogs put eggs or when... I think you got the idea
Soooo, I decided to import FFXI (I am european), it came pretty fast (4 working days) , installed the game and after 7887659082356 zillion hours of downloadings, "Agrees" buttons and alike I was ready to play.
My opinion about this game is based on 2 weeks playing, so its worth what its worth, but I can recognize and smell a good MMRPG at distance and this is a good one.
I could go into details about the conquest system, character sub-jobs, Crafting Guilds, Groups, Graphics... but I wont, maybe at a later time. I will just resume FFXI by saying that its the most balanced MMRPG I played so far and that every single thing implemented is well done. Some are just a copy of positive things from other MMRPGs, others are completly original.
Imagine a Xtmas tree, some people just through all kind of lights and stuff into it ( the more the marrier), some just put a star on top of it (minimalist ones) FFXI managed to decorate the tree with the right stuff at the right places in the right quantity. |

After the initial learning curve, FFXI is fun... then comes the higher lvls. Mundane puts it lightly I think, but wait, there is PVP... oh, that's right, all avatars are cookie cut leaving little room for variation dispite sub-jobs. I had fairly high hopes for this title _________________

In its defence though, you have to remember that this is a 2 year-old mmorpg. I think that if it would have arrived on the heels of DAoC it might have been a pretty close call between the two. What gets DAoC ahead in the end, though, is the RvR, which still has to be rivaled by anything else IMO. _________________ =Proud Father of a new gamer GIRL!=

Yea, I just think FFXI took the safe route though. You're right, DAoC's RvR is awsome... my little Monk can do some damage! _________________

I'm european and order FFXI, played for just over a week 3 months ago and i can tell you that.... well it not my cuppa tea. This is not Square Development things otherwise they could do better, i mean playability... It too shoddy solid for me, a limit control playability far below my standard. But again FFXI is configs for console perfectly. Playability of what i'm talking about is what EQ is now from it originality, Unlike all other mmorpg i've tried FFXI is'nt so bad but it still failed for me. Quest is soooo.... nevermind.
If you are a Final Fantasy freak and like hearing little jappy saying 'Hi Tarutaru ^^' in cuteness. Only a few classes to choose from, everyone look the same, then it for you ; ).
'I did'nt actually play the game, it was my computer having more funs than me = (.' |

Well,I bought it,I played it and its crap.I think to make a good mmorpg, you have to like people and Square whatever obviously dosen't like people very much. The game is more frustrating than fun.The mobs have all the advantages. They magic you too death, they run faster, you can hardly ever interupt their casting and ,in a close race to see who croaks,.....yup,your it.This is one game where you have to be a FF nut to enjoy.I wanted to kill the next Taru that spoke that sugary sweet phrasing they use.Well,as far as I'm concerned, the game is "puky wuky"! |
