I also cannot run this game. I have a Pentium III 500MHZ
256 MB Ram
ATI RADEON8500 64MB
UDMA 2 with DMA enabled.
I loaded all the latest drivers and even beta drivers. Still get Access Violation when trying to load.
I unloaded the ATI and reinstalled my ASUS 3800 and it seems to run fine. Do I have to throw out my RADEON for this game. NOT
Have the developers write a patch to fix the ATI Radeon problem. Because that is the problem.. I will wait another week for the patch. If it still is not around I will return this game and remember the company that made it....

I have an:
Athlon 900 MHz @ 100 FSB
MS-6167
256 PC100 SDRAM
Radeon 8500 OEM
Soundblaster Live! Value
Hauppauge WinTV card
Other stuff.

Ugh...

Read the Radeon 8500 threads and tell us if it also works for Radeon 7500.

I had this problem on Tuesday after I completely rebuilt my PC with a new hard drive. I have a GeForce2 MX running under ME. When I started up Gothic after reinstalling it, either it froze up or gave me access violation. I think the cuplrit was that I copied over the changed files from my backups. I reinstalled Gothic, copied only the saves and by the third time of starting up, the problem cleared itself.

i get crashes whenever i fight, says access violation, or just crashes, not rarely mind you, this is going on nearly every time i try and fight, did anyone test this game before it was released? ive tested it at a lan party once and every machine had same problems, win98, win2000, winXP, TNT2, GE3 Morpheus, GE3 T200,

i wish developers would make sure their game runs before they release.

dissapointed

I'm getting the access violation on the english version. My specs are:

AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz
384Mg RAM
ATI Radeon VE 64Mb
Soundblaster Live
and all of the latest drivers etc.

I start the program, get the loading screen, and just as it starts to load it exits and gives "access violation".

I've tried all of the installations, and all of the options (fog, sound, music, rain, blood, etc.) have been turned on/off in pretty much all possible combinations.

I'm a patient guy, but i sent in the error form to pirahna tech-support a week ago, and i have yet to even get an answer. I just sent the newest one in a few hours ago, maybe they'll actually notice it this time.

i'm the guy from above this entry. Just thought i'd add that i'm using Windows ME, so i don't have to wait a week just to be asked what OS i use.

i kinda hope they come up with a patch for this soon.

Try the Radeon 8500 solution. Both cards use the same dual head technology.

Hey Everybody!!!
I was having the exact same problem with Gothic on my computer...Trying to open the game...the Gothic logo and loading would appear...and then the screen would flash blank several times and then kick back to windows with a small window open reading Gothic 1.08j in the heading. My comp that I'm using isn't a great one--

-AMD K-6 2 @500 Mhz
-256 MB RAM
-30 GIG HDD
-PNY Tech Verto GeForce2 MX 400 64MB
-Generic 16 MB soundcard
-DX 8.0

--but it at least meets the minimum requirements. My hard drive is partitioned into 4 separate areas about 7 gig each and I had repeatedly tried installing Gothic on the last 2 of them, drives E: and F:. Well for some reason, while in CMOS trying to figure this damn thing out, I saw that my comp didn't recognize that it had more drives than just a C: and D:. So I uninstalled the game from the E: drive and while reinstalling just went with the default location: C:program filespirahna-bytesGothic.....AND IT WORKED!!! HAHA. I can't believe it. I thought i was going to have to upgrade everything all over again for this damn game.

So in short, for everybody with huge partitioned HDD's (which is everybody) just uninstall it from where it is and put it on your C: drive. Hope this helps:)
