Still a great effort, though, as you noted.
The original German Gothic 2 had an option for subtitles to be displayed in English?!?
I never knew that or I probably would have gotten the German version a long time ago. |

No. The original subtitles are in German only. It's not a multilingual game, so no option to change to English, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian, etc. If you are still in doubt, I can give you a screenshot of my G2's option pane.
However, this mod will replace ALL the subtitles, including the ones in G2 AND addon, with THE TEAM'S version of English translation. In other words, even if you have a Pig Latin version of the original G2 and then apply the German addon and the mod, the final subtitles will be in English.
If you still don't get what we mean, here is a case if the user has an English G2 and install the German addon:
- UK Original
version 1.31
subtitles in English only
voice acting in English only
- After installing the addon
version 2.50
ALL subtitles in German
voice acting partially in English (original) and in German (addon)
- After applying the translation patch
version 2.60
ALL subtitles in English
voice acting partially in English (original) and in German (addon)
(FYI: The original subtitles for G2 and NotR are all contained in one "package", not in two separate packages.) |

I understand what you're saying perfectly, but what did he mean by
" All they had to do was copy the English subtitles that already existed."?
Existed where? If the mod team didn't make them and they weren't in the original game, then where did they copy them from? |

Let me restate:
- G2 original: copied from the English G2. These are the subtitles to which elkston is referring.
- NotR addon: translated by the team.

I understand now. thank you. They took the subtitles from the English version and included them in the patch along with the translated NOTR subtitles. A very good idea, so people could play German version with English subtitles and not have to listen to 2 different languages being spoken.
I am very excited about the prospect of getting to play NOTR. I'm going to order it within the week. Probably won't start playing it till the end of next month though because of a certain game *cough*Doom3*cough* coming out in two weeks. |

It became un sticky cause nobody write here anymore. But let's stop spamming. We can't keep a thread anynore that nobody has to tell anyhting about the main subject.I think many people have seen it allready.Gorath or Jaz should make a new thread, lock it,make it sticky which will include the link to download the mod. _________________ (Firefox_Mythos)(Παντος)Reaperfox(Ρουβαλης)Tezafox Katsaridoktono(Ντουσικος)Che(Ταγαρης)Crusader(nokos)shadowfox(Μηχελης)aquafox(Στελιος)thunderfox_gomos(Γιωργος) |

true. we need a new thread about this topic. in my point of view, the old threads are not as useful to the average user as the new ones are, because in the old ones all the importand info is scattered thorugh the pages and most people are bored of searching and collecting it , while in the new ones the important info is in the beginning. _________________ THE FOX CLAN

There is to be another version iteration that includes all the fixes, re-writes, and typo correction that Kiwi Boy et al started as a project. We are not done with it completely in it most perfect form yet to be. _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |

As Xerxes said. I'd estimate that most of the text has been now rechecked and corrected, some smaller part may remain. What we're waiting for is Kiwi Boy to enter all the changed text into text files on his site, after which they'll be reviewed and finished. As a result, from it would most likely come out the complete, finished version of the add-on translation mod _________________ Been there, done that . . . |
