As I am preparing a feature about the CRPG of the year from the editors' point of view, I'd like to hear your picks for the following categories:
1) CRPG of the year
2) Biggest Disappointment
3) Best independent project
4) CRPG/editor that offers most for being creative
5) Most anticipated CRPG of 2002
6) Most innovative MMORPG
7) Best site from a publisher/developer
Shoot them at me

2) Biggest Disappointment - TORN getting cancelled!
3) Best independent project - Uplink (http://www.introversion.co.uk) although it's not *exactly* an RPG
4) Arcanum. The mod community is only now getting the hang of what's possible, but they're really doing some nifty stuff.
5) Divine Divinity, no doubt about it. *drool*

I got Wizardry 8 a few days ago, and looks like the winner for me, I still haven't played Gothic yet though, but I guess the party style in Wizardry 8 will give it the edge to win anyway, no matter how good a story Gothic is. |

I'll answer the questions that I can.
1) Gothic. Eventhough I just played the German and English demo's this game is by far the best for me in 2001. Can't wait untill the English version is released here in Europe.
2) Dark age of Camelot. it's too slow, forcing you to group, feels empty without soul, PvP and RvR is unbalanced. I'm now mmorpg-less because of this (the horror-the horror)
5) Morrowind. If they deliver the goods as promised this game will rock!! High-end graphics in a non-linear rpg world. Almost sounds too good to be true.
6) can't think of any in 2001 but I'm keeping close tabs on the mmorpg called Neocron for next year. It might be something else.
7) http://www.morrowind.com it just looks very good. Weekly updates. Just a very goodlooking and well organized site with lots of info. |

I can't answer then all; but:
1) CRPG of the year - Gothic wins hands down, it's big, it's fun and it's an adult game (finally!)
) Biggest Disappointment - Pool of Radiance
5) Most anticipated CRPG of 2002 - Elderscrolls: Morrowind
