Yes, there are a few people. Seven if memory serves me correctly, but none as long as Mud.

Mud lasted just long enough for me to run my rusty sword through his little girly-boy body

I like how Muds voice deepens when he tells you to get out of his way.

Mud annoyed the hell out of me quite quickly (he just didn't get the hint "Get Lost!" did he!), so when I was outside the camp I smacked him with my rusty sword. I was wetting myself as he ran off, and then had a gaggle of those birdy things chasing after him too.

More seriously, I was very impressed when he actually then ran off in the direction of the castle. Next time I saw him his voice was all deep and this made me think there may have been more to him than I first thought.

But what *really* bothered me the most was when he told me that the guards from the New Camp kept beating him up and he was going to warn them about me. I didn't want any attention drawn to myself at this stage so I decided to reload and avoid him. I guess I should have just continued as that was how the game had panned out, but shortly afterwards I fell too far and killed myself and had to reload from this position anyway, as I hadn't made a more recent save (duh!)...

Ahhh Mud. he drove me UP THE WALL in the demo

So when I found him in the game, I took him outside and beat him him and robbed him...

then...

Every single day I slept in the Old Camp, every single time I walked past him huddeled next to the doorway of his pathetic little hovel... I beat him up again

And again
and again
and again!!!!!!!

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

An excerpt from a very helpful faq.

quote:
Mud
Ok, Mud is by far the most irretating thing in Gothic, but
rather funny if you ask me. He reminds me of a certain
other guy in Baldurs Gate...
Deciding what to do with mud is up to you. When you are tired
of him, beat him down once, and he will leave you alone.

Mud is really a internal joke, his look and character are
similiar to a former TV host/moderator on Viva2, "Niels Ruf"
Check out his website here: http://www.niels-ruf.de
Doesnt he look like mud? =)

- Thanks to Gorath for the info

I looked at the site. I dont get it. Does anyone know if mud is supposed to be someone?

And th other annoying digger who built his house near the ditch in the old camp:
His voice sounds like Bobcat Gold-thw.. you know that comedian.
