@jski. I apologise if I have misinterpreted what you were saying. I hope you can understand how I could have misread your post and seen derogatry comments twoards BIS and Interplay.

Discussions like this can get pretty heated.

@jski, it's hard to take "crap like Lionheart" any other way, but fair enough - I misunderstood.

Regarding producing Lionheart rather than FO3, I think you need to take the whole circumstances into account. If BIS developed FO3, it would clearly be an internal project (Feargus "promised" FO3 to Chris Parker's Icewind Dale team IIRC). FO3 is also a complex title; it will take a lot of work to produce a good RPG that the Fallout fans are satisfied is consistent with the Fallout world. Last I heard, Black Isle has 2 internal dev teams and capacity for up to 4 external projects.

So to make FO3, BIS needs to be in a position for a potentially longish development cycle (they need a new engine for example) when the "Icewind" team isn't occupied. Lionheart is an external product and Reflexive are using their own existing engine so the dev time should have been short (seems to be lengthening, but anyway...). Lionheart represents a totally different opportunity to FO3.

Anyway, we've had forum polls here on anticipation for new games and Lionheart always ranks highly. It might not have the fanbase of FO3 but it's a worthwhile project in it's own right.

Didn't mean to make it so long, sorry .

jski,

I don't really expect Baldur's Gate III from Interplay since the story arc is over. Granted, a new game in the FR would be fine. But they should keep the BG name retired rather than tainting it for cash.

Has anyone heard what happened officially that led to Feargus quitting?

Not yet. The BIS forums have run rampant but...it's impossible to separate the fiction from reality. One person claims Feargus doesn't leave until May 12 and there won't be an announcement until then, however, as far as I can tell people are gathering as much information from Feargus' forum profile as anything else .

Yes, a bit surreal isn't it. I'd forgotten how many nutters hang out on the Interplay forums. Hundreds of rumours, but as yet not one fact.
