| Cannot launch the Gothic executable. |

I installed the game without any problems, but cannot get it to run. Ive tried the icon, the Gothic2.exe inside the /system directory, and the autorun feature. All result in the cursor changing to an hourglass for a few seconds, then nothing. No error message. It does not show up in my system processes.
Im using XP and have a P4 2.4, 512 ram, Geforce4 ti4200, DirextX 9.0b, up to date drivers
Im not running any anti-virus programs, and have no (known) spyware active, as i scan regularly.
Not sure what else to say  , any help would be GREATLY appreciated. |

There is a patch 1.08k for Gothic 1. It fixes ATI video cards to work; plus it may do other things. Have you installed it?

I get this exact same problem. I have the latest ATI drivers and I don't know of any patch for the English version. I can't find mention of it on any website.

urk.... I have Gothic II, clicked on the wrong forum. Posting problem in the Gothic II forum now. Thanks for trying though. |
