Just finished...my new favorite game of all time! |
|
Well, I finally finished it up. I was taking my time since the game was so enjoyable. I think my final level was 28 or so. Fallout 1 and 2 used to be tied as my favorite game but Gothic has now replaced them due to being 3d and giving more of a feeling of being there.
I'll disagree with most people's sentiments that the first few chapters were the best part of the game. I much more enjoyed the second half of the game when you become a near immortal. Even the character's demeaner adjusts accordingly to his growing power. I thought it was a poor design decision to make you solve a quest with a piece of equipment you may not even have like the bow in the sleeper's temple. I focused on Swords and strength and never once used a bow or raised dex...until then that is. Still...that's kinda like saying you didn't like the types of nuts they used on your sundae...it's still pretty damn good
I was sorta surprised how easy the last battle was. Cor Calum's magic barely even left a mark. I lured the last three demons up to the top of the stairs and let them get peppered with the sleeper's fireballs while I beat on them. The ending sorta sucked and I would have loved seeing a Fallout type ending where it goes through and tells you how it all worked out with everyone else but oh well.
I will eagerly count the days until Gothic 2. Hopefully it makes th projected October release! |

I recently finished it too. I found Cor Kalom, the obsessed novices, and the apocalyptic templars extremely easy to win. Two hits, and they were gone. They could hardly scratch me. Perhaps it was because I was level 37... The poor Cor Kalom fella didn't even have a chance to awaken the Sleeper.
The fanatic templars were much more difficult for me, perhaps because I didn't have the improved ore armor when fighting with them.
I prefer chapters 1-3, where there's a lot of roleplaying and there's still a lot to see in the world. Plus, the camps are more populated, making it much easier to kill a few NPCs and create a confusion there. |

I have completed the game a lot of times, and I agree; the first chapters are the best ones(because they are non-linear).
The last fight is pretty hard if you are an archer or something. It all depends on how much time you spent running around killing things in the forest(gaining levels). |

Congrats for finishing the game. I agree that the ending isn't that attractive. I enjoyed more in sending Ring of Deaths to the novices and Cor Kalom, watching them glow in purple color, and then all the novices fall at the same time. What a wonderful scene! _________________ =Farseer=
Things are neither completely bright nor dark.
Do you go right? Or do you go left? A simple decision, yes? No ambiguities. Only the dream of the path not taken! And so one might stand in this place and contemplate for a long while. What will I miss if I go left? What will I lose if I go right? And in my indecision, have I chosen a worse fate? |
