When I began with it the first time I was level 5, 'cause I wanted be as quick as possible in the next chapter. Now I'm 9 for the second time, 'cause my save game was damaged.

I was level 4 with Miltia (too easy and fast)
and Level 7 with merc

I honestly don't think there's enough creatures on the map in Chapter 1 to become level 18. I'm sorry, but I just don't believe you, unless you explain how.
I was level 9, and I completed nearly every sidequest, and killed most monsters giving less than 200XP. |

Yepz, I totally agree with Maylander. I have done all subquests, except a few which I could not yet fullfill. I also killed most of the animals and was a few 100 XP's away from level 9.

I was lvl 15 going into chptr. 2 and I still had some critters and bad guys that I left alone for future game play so maybe he did.

I wasn't sure, but it was low. I'm playing through it again and trying to get to at least level 8.
